Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, took his birth on this land on 2nd October, 1869 for a cause.
I tried to sketch out about the great personality in my words and posted a write up on Mahatma earlier. But, there are some inconsistencies which I failed to observe. Due to which, it received decimal response and attracted lowest viewership. I feel this is an opportunity for me to correct those mistakes.
Gandhi is not just the name of a family dynasty, he is not just the picture on a currency note, he is not just a statue standing in the corners/cross-roads of our villages/ towns/cities, and he is not just the name of a street named after him in our villages/towns or elsewhere. He is a revolution that changed the fate of this land and he is the savior of the people of this land from the centuries of barbaric rule of Britishers (Inspiration drawn from the lyric written by Sri Sitarama Sastri for the movie Mahatma directed my favourite director Krishna Vamsi).
I consider Mahatma as the God of Peace. But, the Noble Peace Foundation failed to confer Peace Prize on Mahatma. It might have tried to scale down the towering personality into their parameters and failed in their exercise. The prize lost its nobility as such.
The name of Gandhi has become a name of a dynasty today to rule this land, though in his life time, Mahatma never hunted for any official position. He led a simple life throughout since he earnestly believed that a person involved in public service should lead a simple life.
Mahatma never preached someone about something, which he never followed. Instead, he experimented himself beforehand to advise someone. That’s the quality of a true leader.
He is neither a handsome personality nor a good orator. Yet, he could inspire millions of the Indians and lead them in the struggle against a mighty empire. He developed a method of direct social action based upon the principles of courage, nonviolence and truth called Satyagraha. He believed that the way people behave is more important than what they achieve. Satyagraha promoted nonviolence and civil disobedience as the most appropriate methods for obtaining political and social goals. That’s the inspirational and motivational ability of a leader. He drew the attention of each and every one with his quality of honesty and commitment towards the cause. He was successful in bridging the gaps and brought unanimity among all and made the people to march behind him in the struggle.
India was granted freedom on 15th August, 1947 after the India partitioned into India and Pakistan. Soon after, there were rioting between Hindu and Muslims. To stop the bloodshed, at the age of 78, he was on fast for 5 days and successful in pacifying the rioting.
Today, we can’t find any leader of such quality of influencing abilities, Today leaders are just instigators, abettors and lacks the quality of appealing.
Albert Einstein, the all time great scientist of the world admired about Gandhi and said that “Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as [Gandhi] ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth."
This is absolutely correct. It is not easy to lead such a simple life, it’s not easy to have such a level of patience, and it is not easy to hang on with such conviction for a cause. In the present context, we consider having these characteristics as absurd.
I consider Mahatma Gandhi as a true leader, a spiritual and political guru to follow, a great thinker, a great fighter, a courageous leader, an economist, embodiment of love.

Mr. Vinoy, my point is so clear here. Abetting religious/caste/regional sentiments for party gains is not acceptable and asking someone to cast or not to cast in favour of/against someone is also not acceptable. My reference to "Fatwa" is just an... |
