`MHATAMA GANDHI JI & THREE MONKEYS'
It is believed that the preachings of three monkeys was formulated by Gandhi Ji. But it is not true. In India, Maharashtra State there is a temple at Trymbkeshhwar. A coin of 1801 were distributed to the the pilgrims. On one side of this coin preaching of three monkeys is inscribed and on the other side two monkeys.
Side-I:
- One monkey covered its mouth with both hands and inscribed, `don’t speak unpleasant’.
- One monkey covered it’s both eyes with both hands and inscribed; `don’t see evil’.
- One monkey covered it’s both ears with both hands and inscribed, `don’t listen’ bad.
Side-II:
One monkey has a balance in its hand and the other is sitting in front of it, inscribed:
`Speak the truth’, `Weigh correct’.
