Globalization has become a universal term, everyone talks about that, everyone debates, writes and suggets about globalization. Its good results, its bad effects. Now what should I write about globalization, is the serious question, because I believe in writing less but very provacative and productive. That is promise to all my dear readers, so I am deriving the excerpt of one of the most famous articles, that is personally very close to me.

Gloabalization is capturing pace across the borders of different nations, for its contribution in developing global economy and world progress. BUt being an Indian, in this article, let's have a critical analysis of the impact that globalization lead to our culture, ethics and customs.

Because of World Trade Organization(WTO), Indian government has liberalized trade and commerce, and MNC'S are looking at India in a big way. They are setting organizations here, investing lumps in R&D and Infrastructure development. Trade and commerce is exchanging at a large scale Changes have taken place not only in quality of life (better living standards than in past) but also in the social architect of society (conventional to modern). Cultural values (for which India is known), have changed due to liberalization and globalization. As a result a global culture is emerging. The main effect of spread of MNC's in the reason has taken a toll on family structure. Indian society was considered a conservative socity during pre-liberalization period but changes are clearly visible in post liberalization era. By the way, I heard that the gap between the poor and rich is increasing continuously, and the number of poor people is still same as it was several years back, what is our globalization doing?

What about education?. Have you sensed that our youth leaves education in a midway and join MNC'S. Is that a good indication?. obviously not, we are considerd as the intellectual capital of the globe, but now I am scared, globalization will shift this title to west as well. Globalization has influenced Indian society in both ways (positive as well negative). There has been a increase in the voilence particularly against women. Yeah, scientific and technological innovations have made life quite comfortable, fast and enjoyable but India has opened its doors not only to MNC's but also to cheap and filthy material. Outcome of this is evident in more datings, celebration of friendship days/valentine day, rising number of call girls and also underage pregnancies that is likely to affect people emotionally and physically and make them more prone to sexually transmitted diseases(STD) .

None can deny that globalization has helped changing communication scenerio. In India, landline or basic phone was a prestige symbol few years back but now you find people riding bicycle with a mobile in hand, talking or listening music or even clicking cameras of their phones targetting pretty girls or ladies. Its very nice, improvements in communication means have helped people taking advantage of globalization. Is that why, the number of accidents has increased enormously?

How many should I discuss, there are countless. Now the question, which arises is, Is globalization a boon or desstruction?. that is really a question of thought for all of us. I personally feel approach should be such that we get benefitted from the globalization, without exploiting our own cultural diversity and historic existence.

This article reminds me of one of the famous quotes of visionary Swami Vivekananda, who foresaw the hazards of globalization and impact of MNC culture in India as early as in 1893 when he spoke at the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago. Here are the golden verses for you,"'Shall India die? Then, from the world all spirituality will be extinct, all sweet-souled sympathy for religion will be extinct, all ideality will be extinct ; and in its place will reign the duality of lust and luxury as the male and female deities, with money as its priest, fraud, force, and competition its ceremonies, and human soul its sacrifice. Such a thing can never be'. Precisely such a terrible thing is taking place in India today on account of the inexorable and immutable process of Globalization".

Most of the arguments in this analysis are not valid at all. You are saying that the opening of India to "cheap and filthy material" from the big bad West has encouraged more dating and celebration of valentine's day, which you made them sound as inherently bad things, and then followed by the slippery slope of leading to more call girls and the transmission of STDs? There's obviously sound argumentation missing here. Prostitution is one of the oldest trades in the world and STDs exist in every part of the world including India, with or without globalisation. This is just one example of many of your numerous flawed arguments, like the argument that improved communications lead to more accidents on the streets?? And then you blame it on globalisation for having brought new phones to India that allow its people to take photo of "pretty girls" that in turn leads to accidents. Why don't you blame it on the pretty girls then and call for forbidding them to be out on the streets? This is the same as you blaming it on globalisation for causing more accidents on the streets. Shouldn't individuals be accountable for their own actions and how they handle new forms of communication, instead of blaming it on new technology itself? Your arguments are simply petty and lack logic and coherence, with too many slippery slopes.

Nice read!We should remember that "India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border!"

The globalisation in indian context should be considered in context of our population and poverty at large scale-this can be verified from the number of people below poverty line (BPL), and the benefit of so called development ie; economical, infrastructural or cultural on indian community at large ( most of the people stay in villages and small towns)whether is tangible and actual or it is confined to matros, business persons, politicians, beurocrats and the middle class, the people of affluent class. It's very unfortunate that most of the persons grown up in middle class and living in big cities and metros are not susceptible and sensitive to the vernacular india and they are not able to see beyond their tunnel vision. Global economy, global market, global access to technology and tailor made jargans in favour of the fenomena globalisation not holds good in indian context. Bascally the the change is in one direction only eg common wealth games and infrastructure in delhi is beneficial to public at large ? It's only an emotional acceptance because we are indian, nothing more than that. One should the the work culture, working atmosphere, amenities, discipline, cleanliness, law and order situation and grace of humanbeing in india and western countris also in developed asian countries, are these comparable. How e live here ? weat are our social concerns ? what is the accountability of big business houses to indian public ? Are the believe in quality goods and quality life ? How are our lawmakers ? How is law and order situation ? Whether globalisation improved our aesthetics and social cohesion ? If not then every indian should think about this virtual development.

First of all thanks for this article.. but i want to let you know that however globalization has made some adverse impact on Indian culture but it's benefits to us are far more than it's disadvantage..with the help of globalization our standard of living has been risen. Due to this, our economy is rising at 2nd fastest speed.I can consider globalization much better.

A thought provocking article. We should seriously think about it and inculcate in the minds of young generation and make them understand about the quality of life rather than what you earn the quantity of life with so much of money you earn from MNCs. Art literature, science & technology, skilled human capital etc are far more important than earning quick money by getting employment in an MNC. R& D should be of indegenous to our culture. Indians are across the globe, we touched the Moon and poised to go even higher. We should have our identity, it should not be affected by the globalisation.
