Nobel Prizes - Where we stand?

The prestigious Nobel Prizes are awarded annually on Dec. 10 in twin ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo. This year’s Nobel prize winners

Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine:

Bruce Beutler of the U.S.

Frenchman Jules Hoffmann

Ralph Steinman Canadian (died three days before the announcement)

Nobel Prize in physics:

Saul Perlmutter, Brian Schmidt and Adam Riess of US

Nobel Prize in chemistry:

Israeli scientist Dan Shechtman

Nobel Prize in literature:

Swedish poet Tomas Transtromer

Nobel Peace Prize:

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian activist Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen

The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences: Yet to be announced

We rarely find a name of an Indian in any one of the above sections at the same time US rarely miss a Nobel Prize every year. Where we are missing? Lack of R&D is the reason.  What is the contribution of our IITs, IISCs and other Universities except for exporting Engineers and Scientists to other nations?  Our Govt. and Corporate houses have to think of.

These Nobel Laureates should effectively contribute their research for the benefit of society. Economics Nobel is great, will they help suggest policy makers get out of global recession. There is a great danger predicted by the EU and USA. IMF Chief is working round-the-clock to bring in policy framework for G-20! Will these Nobel Laureates join her initiative?

Noble prize in the field of Economics also bagged by US Economists. The R&D in every field has to be encouraged. Our Universities and prestigious institutions busy producing engineers, other graduates and post graduates to work for other countries. Our Academicians and Professors have to think of.

We have to prove ourselves to get that Nobel Prize, this is a fact which we have to understand and put ourselves in that position.
Moreover as per my perception no body can ever beat or touch the height of Tagore's mental ability.
I am not concerned about rest because I know how they managed to get the title.

Already I am trying hardest on my behalf but am sure of a fact that I'll never come even in the eleventh quarter of what Tagore was.
Dont get disheartened ! The younger generation will prove themselves !!

We love to compare ourselves with US every time on every issue. But, I believe we are miles away from US on all aspects. US rarely misses a Nobel prize every year, we rarely finds an Indian name. Where we stand?

Mr. Vinoy, my point is so clear here.  Abetting religious/caste/regional sentiments for party gains is not acceptable and asking someone to cast or not to cast in favour of/against  someone is also not acceptable.  My reference to "Fatwa" is just an...
