Here is the copy of Anna Hazare's open letter to PM..

Date: April 6, 2011
To,
Dr. Manmohan Singh,
Hon'ble Prime Minister of India
New Delhi Dear
Dr. Singh,

I have started my indefinite fast at Jantar mantar. I had invited you also to fast and pray for a corruption free India on 5th April. Though I did not receive any reply from you, I am hopeful that you must have done that.
I am pained to read and hear about government's reaction to my fast. I consider it my duty to clarify the points raised on behalf of Congress party and the government by their spokespersons, as they appear in media:

1. It is being alleged that I am being instigated by some people to sit on this fast. Dear Manmohan Singh ji, this is an insult to my sense of wisdom and intelligence. I am not a kid that I could be "instigated" into going on an indefinite fast. I am a fiercely independent person. I take advice from many friends and critics, but do what my conscience directs me to do. It is my experience that when cornered, governments resort to such malicious slandering. I am pained that the government, rather than addressing the issue of corruption, is trying to allege conspiracies, when there are none.

2. It is being said that I have shown impatience. Dear Prime Minister, so far, every government has shown complete insensitivity and lack of political commitment to tackling corruption. 62 years after independence, we still do not have independent and effective anti-corruption systems. Very weak versions of Lokpal Bill were presented in Parliament eight times in last 42 years. Even these weak versions were not passed by Parliament. This means, left to themselves, the politicians and bureaucrats will never pass any law which subjects them to any kind of objective scrutiny. At a time, when the country has witnessed scams of unprecedented scale, the impatience of the entire country is justified. And we call upon you, not to look for precedents, but show courage to take unprecedented steps.

3. It is being said that I have shown impatience when the government has "initiated" the process. I would urge you to tell me - exactly what processes are underway?

a. You say that your Group of Ministers are drafting the anti-corruption law. Many of the members of this Group of Ministers have such a shady past that if effective anticorruption systems had been in place, some of them would have been behind bars. Do you want us to have faith in a process in which some of the most corrupt people of this country should draft the anti-corruption law?

b. NAC sub-committee has discussed Jan Lokpal Bill. But what does that actually mean? Will the government accept the recommendations of NAC sub-committee? So far, UPA II has shown complete contempt for even the most innocuous issues raised by NAC.

c. I and many other friends from India Against Corruption movement wrote several letters to you after 1st December. I also sent you a copy of Jan Lokpal Bill on 1st December. We did not get any response. It is only when I wrote to you that I will sit on an indefinite fast, we were promptly invited for discussions on 7th March. I wonder whether the government responds only to threats of indefinite fast. Before that, representatives of India Against Corruption had been meeting various Ministers seeking their support for the Jan Lokpal Bill. They met Mr Moily also and personally handed over copy of Jan Lokpal to him. A few hours before our meeting with you, we received a phone call from Mr Moily's office that the copy of Jan Lokpal Bill had been misplaced by his office and they wanted another copy. This is the seriousness with which the government has dealt with Jan Lokpal Bill.

d. Dear Dr Manmohan Singh ji, if you were in my place, would you have any faith in the aforesaid processes? Kindly let me know if there are any other processes underway. If you still feel that I am impatient, I am happy that I am because the whole nation is feeling impatient at the lack of credible efforts from your government against corruption.
4. What are we asking for? We are not saying that you should accept the Bill drafted by us. But kindly create a credible platform for discussions . a joint committee with at least half members from civil society suggested by us. Your spokespersons are misleading the nation when they say that there is no precedent for setting up a joint committee. At least seven laws in Maharashtra were drafted by similar joint committees and presented in Maharashtra Assembly. Maharashtra RTI Act, one of the best laws of those times, was drafted by a joint committee. Even at the centre, when 25,000 tribals came to Delhi two years ago, your government set up a joint committee on land issues within 48 hours. You yourself are the Chairperson of that committee. This means that the government is willing to set up joint committees on all other issues, but not on corruption. Why?

5. It is being said that the government wants to talk to us and we are not talking to them. This is utterly false. Tell me a single meeting when you called us and we did not come. We strongly believe in dialogue and engagement. Kindly do not mislead the country by saying that we are shunning dialogue. We request you to take some credible steps at stemming corruption. Kindly stop finding faults and suspecting conspiracies in our movement. There are none. Even if there were, it does not absolve you of your responsibilities to stop corruption.

With warm regards,
(K B Hazare).

After reading this I feel more sorry about our nation.

His Intent and Purport is very clear. Dr.MMS is sulking from inside seeing the apathy of this Nation, completely inundated feeling helpless, but the attachment to the Chair (which is glued) is what is holding him on for this inaction! Is he not a HONEST CITIZEN of this country? Let him not act as PM, but as an ordinary citizen, he has every right to question the propriety of every politician! He is also septuagenarian, like Anna Hazare, who has shown sympathy towards appalling state of this country, why not he?

Every one should salute Mr.Anna Hazare for his very bold step taken to fight against corruption and in fact it is a very good kick start for others to fall in line to initiate such steps with a view to struggle for a noble cause. His letter clearly portrays the plight of our country and the inability of our government under the leadership of Dr.Manmohan Singh in taking corrective measures to control the intensity of corruption. We all wish every success in Mr.Anna's efforts towards corruption. Thanks for the referral Ms.Sonam Kapoor.

Thank you Sonam for Anna hazare's Letter to the PM. It is food for thought and a lot of internal revaluation of one's own attitude towards the Cancer of Corruption.

All of us seriously need more to re-think about our own behaviour than to join in a 'Token Fast'.

Dear All,
Thanks for sonam. Our politics and politician normally blame the other side for corruption. They have done , he has not the right to speak against corruption.People also agree. If you say somebody corrupted they will argue for another corruption. Now ,Anna,as he is not a politician Govt is thinking to escape from his comment. All politician are waiting to blame Anna in some other issues. If they are met with failure then they arouse for a drama like Womens BILL 33% quota.Only people has to wake up. then only the corruption can be cleaned up. For that all has to support till the fruit ripes.Anna has to start a movement then only he,we, can succeed.

Thanks, Natteraja, Sonam and others who posted this to me.
I am attaching a link of one of my earlier posting concerning this subject as follows.

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/corruption/

Please make it a point to cut and paste this on to your browser and read, it is slightly long and gives a clear picture of the philosophy of corruption. Being educated and knowing the facts about our country in a secluded economic status for 50 years, there are problems that one need to tackle, not under emotions, but like educated elemets of the economy. So this paper I am referring will give the latest findings on corruption, If you don't read it one cannot make a clear judgement on what is going on here, emotional judgements are basicaly absurd and not conducive to changes for better. Please take sometime to read it and understand it before being emotional enought to raise your blood preasure. Thanks.

Hey,
It is a nice letter , inviting PM to show his commitment on eradicating Corruption. But, everything takes its time & the process if very long in democratic set-up. I am not an expert on this but, what I learned through my readings, is that this OMBUDSMAN BUSINESS can be lethal to some sections & may not serve its purpose.

Swiss Bank also has an Ombudsman service to settle complaints but, its' customers are not happy. It continues.

In our case, LOKPAL BILL, claims an independent authority. Why can not it go against the mass.? particularly when you have a Independent judiciary with Supreme court.? Clash & contradiction arise between the two. Independence's finally over-rules the Supreme court.

Anyhow, what I feel is that, it is like what we have in village ," KATTAI PANCHAYAT "

62 years pending means that the subject experts may not be convinced of its true functional efficiency. May be a better one can be framed by having a cool-dialogue.

Our governing body is driven by manual system. It is very hard to come out from corruption persons because it is routine work is not done in time so every needy will try some extra force to do it or get it which results in bed habited hope to expect some money from every one.Our government policy is defective and which is holding are encourages corruption more and more.As per example,if you take ticket in travelling bus you have to pay that not paid from someone. If you use electric at home you have to also pay the bill for theft of power and loss due to feeders and also charge of farmer who are given free electric connection. Is it reasonable? How common man can carry all these load for his own? How much earning capacity of general public of middle class who are 75% of our total strength of national public? We are very selfish if we do not pay any notice to this event.Wake up yourself and divide in to small nation for better program of actual freedom.Stop party politics, every citizen should involve in national program and information of each work and law.

I am very sorry to mr Hazare and to our nation. I think not only me, we all should sorry to each other and themselves. Is this called as Independent country?
I think we are free from other country leaders but still prisoned by our own leaders who came to power on our votes. We all should oppose CONGRESS and should fight against corruption. What are you waiting for?
"ANNA HAZARE" is not fighting for his sake and he is not having any selfish reason. He raised his hands to help us and protect our nation. I request you all to please go on FAST for atleast one day(if you wish).
Please pass this msg to all of your friends and relatives.
Lets fight together, then only we can expect our country free from corruption.

Till this moment, we were waiting for a light to spark.... now this moment has come... at least I m one of the evidence of such revolutionary action......

But the shameful thing is that in such a young nation means where young population is more... in such country one old age person had come out for this.... is this the problem of education we impart in our kids and youngsters?

Shri hazare sahib had got the education in 40s and 50s.... does it mean education standard deteriorated in such a huge way?... are we not capable to cultivate such education and SANSAKR in our kids, who dare to oppose this malicious things like corruption.... why this movement was not started by a young person... why we are in second lead....

Do we find that we can lead our nation in a right direction? why we need one old person to start this.....

This is the problem of our country, administration, politicians, policy makers, education system... where we failed absolutely.... We are not in a position or even dare to say that this system is wrong.... we are afraid of syndicated and organized crime... so called bunch of all above mentioned culprits

Namaskar to shri Hazare saheb... who shows us the path to get free our nation from corruption.... going to join his movement at my level

Seems to be a bad way to resolve an issue which is this deep rooted into our very cultural being. We have progressed to the 4th position in the corruption index and seem to be very happy about this state of affairs. The main position being that we are not greedy or corrupt, but the person next to us is and so why should we also not take advantage of it.

I believe the main issue arises from our social structure, where the people have to keep worrying about where they will be when they are old and cannot earn money. Our country has not established a pension system which can sustain us all. Even though we are such a large country, even private companies cannot guarantee a proper pension scheme and some have left it altogether, depending on their employees to provide for themselves and fend for it.

The US fended off this issue by making things transparent and providing basic necessities to people, but our country has too much disparity and strife to achieve this. Some people may argue that it is due to population, but that is just one of the issues driving this.

I rememeber the old slogan "Total Revolution" suggested by Jayaprakash Narayan. People came out on the roads, the day his Janata Party came to power (similar to the jubiliation when we won World Cup recently). Unfortunately the elected politicians failed him. I am, all along, looking forward for such a person to lead a revolution against corruption. Here come Respected Anna Hazare and all my hopes are pinned on him. Hail Anna Hazare !! i am proud of Mr hazare, he could be the leader to stop the situations prevailing in India;i am not in India presently but it feels sad to read such stories based on my motherland. on one hand we are celebrating the victory of getting the world cup and on the same hand a shameful corrupt story of the nation!
i believe there is something wrong with the government structure or else dere is no smoke without a fire ! if things go on the same way i hope we would also have to protest the way the people did in Irak ! its better to believe on our own strength rather than to simply wait for the govt to reply.
i also agree to the fac thtat the PM should not be blamed alone ,its the full staircase which needs to be replaced

Mr Hazare's heart and intentions are in the right place.
However the political establishment in this country will try every trick possible to deter the passage of such a bill, because for them its the equivalent of committing suicide. We all know that our political system including the LS is a Rogues Gallery, with over 70% of the incumbents have criminal cases for henious crimes against them and by virtue of being members of the legislative assembly they are above prosecution.

Having a law such as this is the right of every Indian citizen to hold those they have elected accountable under law for any wrong doing when he/she is in office.

Corruption starts at the very TOP and percolates down to the lowest echelons of civil society, whereby 99% of all civil servants have been tainted by the scourge of corruption and they carry on doing it with impunity knowing that nothing can be done to them. The maximum punishment they can get is suspension for a couple of months and then they are reinstated to carry on with their dubious activities.

Hazareji should simultaneously also prod the youth of this nation to rise up and bring about a revolution against the political establishment (like Gandhiji did),that is the only permanent solution to this country's current problems.

The nation requires to support Anna as whatever he is doing is for the good of coming generations and health of nation.
Anna has said he got no response to his letters it goes on to reflect the damage power has inflicted even on PMO. The reasons to call PM an honest are only reducing day by day as honesty that can not even have courage to call a wrong a wrong is of no use at all.
