Pakistan's obsession with India that makes it look at its neighbour as an "existential threat" is a mistake and it would do well to shed this contest mentality, U.S. President Barack Obama has said.

He said the U.S. wants Pakistan to realise that the biggest threat to it does not come from outside but is "homegrown".

He said: "They see that as their existential threat. I think that's a mistake. I think that peace between India and Pakistan would serve Pakistan very well".

He said Pakistan needs to do shed its orientation of looking at every issue through the India lens to be able to make full economic progress.

Is it a matter of US anyways? Why is that US comes in between every nation , gives a statement and shows it is superior.. Is it there business ?

DUPLOMACY IN THE GUISE OF DIPLOMACY Both USA and Pak are playing diplomacy of duplicity with each other in so far India is concerned. Obama's statement can be equated with crocodile's tears or lip sympathy with India, as in spite of finding Osama, the most wanted enemy of USA, hidden at the very below the nose of the Pak's army, still it is continuing its huge financial aid to Pak, which it is utilising in fostering the terrorists. On the other hand Pak has a very good cause of getting continued huge alms from USA in the name of curbing terrorism, while it is causing to enhance more and more of terrorism through its own land. Really novel nature of tactics of both nations towards each nation. Pak is hoodwinking USA in the name of curbing terrorism, wile USA is trying to spread its activities in close proximity of India from within USA and shedding crocodile's tears in sympathy of India. About US coming in between every nation, anybody, if closely watch the diplomacy of the US or even other western nations, they are trying to evade any war like situation out of their own territories by continuously trying to spread disturbed situations in eastern countries to make their own living peacefully. None of the western countries are creating any disturbing situations in the western hemisphere of the globe. Every such situation is being created in the Asian or Arabian areas by use of one or the other nation's rebellious elements. Readers may like to think, why USA is not creating trouble in its neighboring Canada or even the Southern American countries? Why UK, France and Germany are not attacking on European countries or USA and why in alliance with USA attacking on Arabian/Middle East countries on one or the other plea and creating very explosive situations there, while every one knows all these countries are eyeing at their oil wealth? THE FACT IS THAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE SUPEREMACY VER OTHERS ON ANY COST WHEN THEY HAVE THE PURCHASING POWER TO CREATE DESTRUCTIVE SITUATIONS IN OTHERS HOUSES ON ONE HAND AND BUY PEACE FOR THEMSELVES ON THE OTHER. PAKISTAN'S RULERS CAN AWAKE ONLY WHEN THEIR OWN NURTURED BLOOD-SUCKING LEOPARDS WOULD START LEAPING ON THESELVES TO EAT THEM AND THEIR OWN NATIVES, AS HAS ALREADY STARTED AFTER THE DEATH OF OSAMA BIN LADEN.

Let's face it,Pakistan's India obsession cannot be wished away, due to historical reasons, part fact, part fiction and mainly due to an inferiority complex, which stemmed from Jinnah's statement of getting a 'moth eaten' Pakistan. Then we didn't 'handover' Kashmir valley(only the valley's important for Pakistan),then brokered and midwifed Bangladesh,in short,we have given enough provocation for Pakistanis to be perpetually with a grievance.Plus we also hold the 'taps' of 2-3 west flowing rivers, and this kind of completes the picture. As someone very eloquently put it,most states have a military but in Pakistan it is the military which has a state,so much is the subservience of the state to its military's interests. In short,we are sitting next to a tinderbox and only a conflagaration will put an end to the misery, once and for all,or wait for the time, till sense prevails over the generals in the Pakistani Army.

Obama has nothing to do with India - Pakistan peace talk & he said so as they realize the double game of Pakistan.
Thanks for referral, Kavitha.
Pakistan was born out of " India or Bharat " hatred..so what more you can expect from them...it will finally lead to their self destruction...nothing else

India and Pakistan both are plagued with their own internal problems, Pakistah is viewing always India is enemy, this is proven right through the years. Pak need to introspect and co-operate with India. As usual US is commenting on every country's affairs, specially developing countries.
The greatest problem with our neighbour is that they have built their military might to equate with India in the disguise to fight for kashmir. This was the philosophy for the earlier dictatorial leadership to have survived .Now the same military's might cannot be opposed by any civlian government in power.Developed countries have taken this opportunity to have a strategic presence for their vested interests for oil in the subcontinent and also their countries furtherance of their economic goals. The developed countries have also given a lot of funding to our neighbour in the disguise of using it against terrorists which was invariable could not be stopped against us.
Hence incrementally the obsession is even more when they have realised that Indian is an emerging super power which they cannot digest.
developed countries are using the developing neighbours ofours to maintain the strained relations that we still have at the cost of their prosperity.
Hope good sense prevails in the democratic leadership of our neighbours to understand us and collaborate with us in their growth for their betterment.
Thanks for sharing!

Mr. OBAMA is right. A country need to deal itself on its' own with its neighbours. Inviting others to involve in their affair is a way of minting dollars. PAK is no exception to it. Showing, frequently obsession of India, shows their inclination to drive out dollars from them. Mr. Obama knows all these play & thats' the reason he stated very directly. PAK has never tried to negotiate any issues with India & settle the issues with India- a biggest democratic country with lot of potential to offer them. But, they are interested in DOLLARS, that Mr. Obama decried it.

US's pro Pak policy is well known, despite Osama being in pakistan US is playing soft, had it been Iran or other country perhaps US would have invaded innocent lives and civilians alike.

Besides India being a weak country is never taken seriously at global platform by powerful countries.

for India it is a double blow.

This is the sort of music we are destined to face as we never had a foreign policy of our own (since Nehruvian times).

There is no denying the fact that every nation wants support from USA.This very fact makes it super power. UNO is financed mostly by USA. SO,they consider themselves ipso facto ruler of the world.

Double standards of US is very well known. Obama talks about "homegrown" terrorists! Yes, Bush was responsible for Osama Bin Laden's supremacy. Pakistan and US are "hand in glove" with each other. To divert the attention of the locals, they play this ploy. India's passive role in sub-continent is viewed as our weakness. Time will teach them a great lesson!

KAVITHA THANKS FOR THE REFERRAL. AS RIGHTLY SAID BY MR. DINGHRA U.S.A CANNOT B AND SHOULD NOT B TRUSTED ANY DAY. INDIA'S GROWTH IS ALWAYS A VERY BIG CONCERN NOT ONLY FOR U.S AND MANY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. USA ALREADY STARTED FEELING THE PINCH OF FINANCIAL COLLAPSE AND THE ECONOMIC TURMOIL IS ANOTHER BIG CONCERN. TELLING THE WORLD THAT INDIA IS ALWAYS U.S STRATEGIC PARTNER IS JUST AN EYE WASH. INDIA IS SELF RELIANT AND NO NEED TO WORRY. WELL IT MAY B ARGUED THAT THE PROGRESS IS NOT AS EXPECTED IT CAN B IRONED OUT IN THE COURSE OF TIME. IT IS NOT INDIA'S WORRY BUT U.S. U.S ASSOCIATION WITH PAKISTAN IS NOT A BIG CONCERN
Is it Pakistan's obsession with India or vice versa? I fail to understand this one sided thinking attitude of us over the years. Both India and Pakistan have not put behind the bitterness of the partition behind us. It is frankly a shame.

We know that the entire Pakistans control is not under one person or institution. This are a reality of most states. How long did Veerappan survive in India? Was Dawood not one of the big guns in Mumbai high society for well over 2 decades until he shifted to possibly Pakistan? It happens.

What we need is shrewd, mature people to handle this and not dirty politicians and TRP rating crazy media men handling this. Can anyone guarantee that the secret agents of other countries not operating in our country. Or our agents are not working in Pakistan, US and other countries. This happens in a highly complex world diplomacy.

I am almost sure that part of Pakistan was part of US operation that killed. Why was Bin Laden shot dead if he was not armed? Lot of hidden stories we are kept away from. Best not be too shrill in such situations with half knowledge.

This highhanded attitude is going to dissolve very soon when US will collapse on its own and will start begging !!! Everyone is victim of his own deeds !!!!
Most of the Pakistani common folk are illiterate religious fundamentalists. They dont have a good feedback about India. Instead of going to schools they go to Madarsas for learning. Religious leaders are the teachers there. They preach (teach) against India there. This negative feeding of public right from its separation from India created an atmosphere that no political party, politician can give pro-India statement. Its a compulsion for the political parties and politicians can dare to give pro-India statement. For them its a survival mantra. Pak army and its ISI is promoting this scenario further. Creation of Bangladesh and India's role in it might have further worsen the situation. They can not see India as a friend.
