Oil Mafia - Neta/Babu Nexus: According to its estimates- said to be conservative- as much as 40% of kerosene supplied for the poor is siphoned by ‘‘organized gangs of mafia proportion’’. State-run oil companies annually supply 9-10 million tonne of the fuel for sale through ration shops; 40% of that means almost 4 million tonne- or about 5200,000,000 litres of kerosene- is flowing into the parallel market. At around `31 per litre in the open market, this trade is worth `16,120 crore. That’s why the official estimate (done in 2006) is said to be conservative.

This is one of the way our tax money get routed to mafia-neta-babu nexus year after year. 

Now it is easy to workout the amount siphoned off thru PDS rice/wheat/sugar etc.

Govt acts that they have no clue about this and awe-struck on how to plug the leak!

The corruption and govt inaction will lead to massive protests by the people of India. See what is happening currently in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, Jordon, Lebonon, Bahrain all erupting within weeks creating a domino effect. All these regimes are controlled by tough rulers and army. But even there the rulers have been forced to flee the countries.

If we do not see demonstrable improvement in governance and curbing of corruption in India - soon we can expect people of this country chasing the corrupt netas, babus, police, judiciary out of their offices/businesses. The mood and pent up anger cannot be suppressed forever and lets pray proper senses prevail our rules/looters to change and prevent the inevitable.
