Received this as an email, thought of sharing it here..

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She reduced altitude and spotted a man below. She descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me Sir, can you help me? I promised a friend, I would meet him an hour ago but I don't know where I am."

The man below replied, "You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately

30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."

''You must be an engineer," said the lady balloonist.

"I am", replied the man. 'How did you know?'

''Well", answered the lady in the balloon, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me at all. If anything, you've delayed my trip even more."

The engineer below responded, "You must be in Top Management."

''I am", replied the lady balloonist, "but, how did you know?''

"Well," said the Engineer, "You don't know where you are, or where you're going. You made a promise, which you've no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you, to solve your problems?."

What they dont teach ............at Harvard Business School: A Red Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand and a bucket of buffalo manure in the other. He says to the waiter, 'Me want coffee.' The waiter says, 'Sure chief, coming right up...' He gets the Red Indian a tall mug of coffee, and the Indian drinks it down in one gulp, picks up the bucket of manure, throws it into the air, blasts it with the shotgun, then just walks out. The next morning the Indian returns. He has his shotgun in one hand and a bucket of buffalo manure in the other… He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter, 'Me want coffee…' The waiter says, 'Whoa, Tonto! We're still cleaning up your mess from yesterday. What the heck was all that about, anyway?' The Indian smiles and proudly says, 'Me training for top management position: Come in, drink coffee, shoot some crap, leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of the day'..

Good One ! From this I could make out one thing clearly is that getting the work done is more important than giving factual statistics which will be of no help to anybody. Telling is easy but doing it is very hard.

Yes! The top management will promise as a part of business to get "yes" in the first instance instead listen to “No”.But initially she may not know where she is and where she will land. Slowly slowly work track on to it and stream line the things through their team to get desired results to fulfill their commitments. It is a part of business game to win.

It is interesting to look at aspects of perception. But do look beyond the 'role' who is perceiving.
A company will have all types of role with different perceptions. The trick is to establish a mechanism where these perceptions are managed and how the company with so many types of perceptions still grow and add value to itself and its employees.

A mosquito and a vulture had a competition "Who will reach to the Sun, first."

Both started and flew with all efforts. Mosquito could not make it more than a few hundred meters, as he was feeling the sun's heat beyond his tolerance. Vulture flew and reached a few kilometers after which, even he found heat was too much to handle.

When the Vulture met the mosquito back on the ground. The mosquito said, "See, I knew sun could not be reached, that's why I returned back so early."
