It is true that phone tapping is in violation of basic citizen rights but at the same time it is the duty of all citizens of India to save our country from any threat. Therefore we should have to sacrifice some of our rights for the safety our nation and it's people.

My fundamental rights end when they tend to intrude into yours. I can swing my arms - but if it intrudes into your personal space then there is a problem. Phone tapping is done to "protect the innocent and weed out the "guilty". Phone tapping can have several links - networks - like in Facebook, TooSTEP LinkedIN etc. A minister and a gangster can be linked at 4-5 levels. Then, if necessary, the ministers phone may also have to be tapped.

The communication either by satellite, mobile ,or by land line is no more mystery. The Right To Information Act has completed the full circle.RTI is harbinger of communication revolution, which can also apply to personal dealings if it is breaching national security.

Thanks Mr Sachin.National security is important, but at the same time the recorded conversation should be kept private so as normal people dont suffer.

Privacy may be the right of a citizen but at what cost matters more. Tapping of phone shall not be considered as a violation but it may be considered as a monitoring way adopted and all tapped talks are not made open even.

Yes basically it is violation of basic citizen rights. If it is done keeping National security in mind and for finding out some Criminals or suspicious characters it is permitted and most required.

100% right. The government should have every right to tape and record the data and any wrong conversations should come out.
