PMP and MPI are american certifications. the choice of options depends on the culture. in europe, they have prince2. the culture of the same is depending in eurpoean environment.
chand commented: "Many long time practising PM's fail in the PMP, because PMP has a PMI and best practice orientation to it.". there is only one correct answer to these questions, and the answer may not be the right answer for india. so to pass these exams, other than broad knowledge, you have to also memorisse by rote situations where there is a culture clash and your answer though correct will be marked wrong.

PMP is the right choice when you have checklist management. However when change is introduced trad. project management aims to manage the change process. Entrepreneurial or agile ways adapt with the changes as much as possible. Agile trainers get more income if they offer Certificates but the training is the same if they don't. The checklists and certificates tether to situations. Situations change. Agile development avoids using trad. project managers. A truly entrepreneurial company will avoid being tied to a fixed plan or fixed project management thinking.

Many long time practising PM's fail in the PMP, because PMP has a PMI and best practice orientation to it.

It is scalable and applicable to any industry.

The PMI code of ethics makes you an honest, truthful still an achieving PM.
