I got an Acer Aspire Laptop 5920 2 years back. From past 2 years I did not face any problem with this laptop. I do not know the reason for this power failure may be power fluctuations in my house but suddenly my laptop got shutdown and when I try to start, there was no response from the power button. Later I checked with my power adapter, it does not respond if I connect my laptop (It starts blinking). If I disconnect from laptop, the light in the power adapter is not blinking. So I guessed it can be the problem with some ports inside my laptop.

I verified with my friends and some of the blogs in the internet and later decided to give it to some private laptop repairer (Rajendra - +91 9620201475). Now he told me today that my power port has gone and I need to insert a new one. Also display chip as well. So he was asking me to pay some 4,000/- including service charges and taxes. I got a doubt so I verified in the internet and I did not get any blog which talked about my problem. Later I verified with some of my friends and with him again to bargain. But he did not agree to come down in the praise and he told if I go to any acer shop, those people will charge around 6,000/- for the same and thats how acer people are making money. I need to know if this is true?

Later I decided to go with him as if I go with someone else and if they say the same thing, they may charge me more... so better not to take risk, I decided to give 4k and he told me to give my laptop by tomorrow evening. Lets see if he still maintains his promise I will get my laptop safely. I will post you updates.

Did you guys faced any such problems? If so share it with me and let me know if I am in trouble with this guy.

Thanks for reading my article,

Triguna

Well, I've browsed through, searched through but could't find what I was looking for. My sister sent me her used laptop yesterday. It has Windows 7 installed etc, and it's Acer 5050 series. Aspire 5052 AWXMi. Everything should be stock. It was working all fine yesterday, everything was smooth, eventhough it has only 1gb of ram. But then this morning, I turned it on, tried to surf through the web, it just shut down on me. The computer will boot, it does have a screen, but then it just shuts down. I installed Windows 7 afterwards (I thought it was some Software problem) but then no go. i also searched on internet but i not getting solution. But i find an amazing site of all laptop details. Take a look : http://www.onlinenotebook.com/acer-aspire-5738dg-6165.html

Today I got the laptop back from him. I checked and it is working fine. I made him to give me receipt for the same and he charged me an extra of 10.3% vat. I was ok to pay as better to pay that extra money than taking a risk of 45k. Later he said there will be a month service warranty and I can come to him anytime if I face any further problems. Overall I felt ok with the service. He gave me the laptop well within the schedule. Lets see how far this will be working.
