Private Consumption and its consequences

Thanks Mr. Muralidharan, I think sending information through electric lines was discovered from Bell laboratories a few decade before and I feel they tried it out in US and am not sure what the present status of it in US now. I feel there may be some interfaces required at the plug points which may not be expensive though it may be as cumbersome as the present modems and may be bulky when it comes to reversing the flow of sending information out. 
It may be convenient for the user may be can reduce cost to the consumer, then this is something a developed nation like US can address, when we in India has not till now addressed our endowment problem for the citizen, I mean rational choices and public consumption. I feel when Nehru said 'industrialize or perish' we never made it a point to execute it scientifically and all are paying the price. Social costs to citizen even at this density of industrialization is prohibitive and we aren't even half way industrialized from where we should be considering the population density of India. US with 1/4th of our population has 100 times more corporations and smes, so for that matter any developed country with lower population levels. Thanks. 

Thanks Mr. Cherian for this great inquisitive post. Decentralization of departments were originally meant to perform efficiently.  Whereas, our present system took it as "blessing in disguise" and are performing as "disparate objects" - no inter-connectivity.  No two departments would know who and what they are catering to, resulting in overlapping.  Here, I will take only one example to amplify your point:

What we need, here, is convergence - convergence of Electricity Department and Telecommunication Department. Do we really have sense to collaborate?  Only time will tell!
