Very nice story: Study this small story, Hope that makes a BIG change in YOU

Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students "How much do you think this glass weighs?

" '50gms!' ..... '100gms!' .....'125gms' ...the students answered. "I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the professor, "but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?" 'Nothing' ..the students said. 'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked. 'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student "You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?" "Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!" .. ventured another student & all the students laughed "Very good." But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?" asked the professor. 'No' Was the answer. "Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?" The students were puzzled. "What should I do now to come out of pain?" asked professor again. "Put the glass down!" said one of the students

"Exactly!" said the professor. Life's problems are something like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything. It's important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to 'PUT THEM DOWN' at the end of every day before You go to sleep.. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh &strong & can handle any issue, any challenges that comes your way. So, when you leave office today discuss and share your issues openly with your boss, colleagues and friends and you will feel relaxed next day Similarly when you reach house give smile and discuss your issues with your spouse freely and you and your spouse will start smiling.

Remember my friend -- 'PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY! '

Very Nice posting.. this reminded me of another story with the same moral.. A teacher asked the KG Students to carry number of potatoes equal to the number of peoples they hated. They should carry 24 x 7 wherever they go, whatever they do. The students did the same then after a week the students started complaining about the rotten smells the potatoes smelled. The teacher said that if you will carry hatred in your hearts then the hearts will get rotten & will smell bad. Forget the hatred - start to forgive & love. & Put the Glass down..

And even sometimes what ever the problem you are worried about gets solved when you follow this "lesson'.

good deepti,if such a psychology becomes then people might get rid off their problem soon
The glass is our mind, our approach to life. The water/ material in it are our problems/ anxities. When the glass is turned down, we are free. NICE. Thanks

Thanks. Being Indians , we can get more advice from books like the Bhagavad Gita.

All Hindu philosophy preaches detachment , which is another way of saying don't let your problems get you down.

Deepti, a lovely story with an insight into ones' mind. Thanks very much. I am pretty sure that how much can a humanbeing carry on in his mind on a day to day basis. I also qould love to share some fo the views of Mr. Deepak Chopra (famous author) who uses the term "let go". He says it is sometimes good that you "let go" certain of the things. This is a very beautiful way of organising one's mind and keeping himself free from all the load on his mind.
Nice Eye Opener..!! Truely Nice One.
