RACISM - 2 REAL INCIDENTS....PLEASE READ

It is quite surprising and scandalous that such incidents still occur at this level. However, when top level persons are subject to intense scrutiny, the plight of the common man can very well be imagined.

Dear Manoj, ''Ugly'' in my comment was for the Racism/casteism/untouchability present in India not for the topic. In my opinion international racism shall not be our concern for now....first we have to try for clearing these issues within India, which is more important. Do you have seen the obsession for fair skin in our country??? ..... How we comment on dark colored people/workers/labourers in our own country?????

It is high time the world community to take note of these kind of incidents and lot more happening especially in Australia and of course Tommy Hillfiger,statement does not augur well.

The racism is still exist and it's a great agony.  But what it is more disgrace is that our ministers are subjected to scan and security clearance when they go to abroad. This is the plight for the ministers of a sovereign nation and what will happen to the ordinary citizens. I request and make an appeal to our government of India to look into the matter to take corrective steps or our ministers should not go to that countries.

I do not think Tommy Hilfiger was unfair in admitting the statement attributed to him.His cloths were designed and retailed for upper class white, so he has not spared even white.But for his fortune as he earned a lot of money,he could not foresee that down the upper class will also be able to buy his cloths.On the contrary he should have been thankful to people who made him rich.
As for BRITISH AIRWAYS,the frumpy woman would be wearing Royal badge which distinguished her from black passenger.
But,by these two incidents,we able to realize that there are people who do not want to come out of their ghetto.
As for Yogendra's observation,i cite an incident,one day a white official came to visit workshop,every one from top to bottom were caring for him.Immediately next day an African came to visit the same premises,the junior subordinate was asked to accompany him. 
   

Dear Yogendra....So happy to see a comment on a posting though you are one of the top member in toostep as I never see any participation in any of the debates/ideates or insights I came across in too step after you added me as a connection...

I posted this just as an insight....and not to discuss the racism issue as an international topic....and honestly I didnt experience such type of racism in India......May be in some parts of India it is still a relevant topic for discussion as we can see from the type of honor killing.....

And as an old member if you know some rules and regulations in toostep for posting what type of insights are ugly or not to spread....let me know....I will post like that...Thanks....

a good example but need to see racism in our own country and respect that we have for our own country

I think.............we are more busy with international racism.......which is quite tolerable.........but we can not see the racism within country or ourselves...........i.e. racism between brahmin/rajputs/baniyas/and dalits....which is really ugly.......no need to spread these stories........first abolish soul of racism within the country. 

Thanks for the article, Manoj. These two incidents brings to memory an encounter i had last year with a white American with a black heart. I was standing beside him on side of the road, desperately trying to cross and get to the other side. He was quite scared of the traffic and seeing the sheer fear on his white visage, i offered to help him cross the road. We succeeded. He smiled and thanked me in the usual American i-don't-mean-what-i-say style. As soon as i turned to go my way, he muttered "bloody Indians and a bloody nation..they need to be bombed". Though i'm not a particularly a patriot at heart, i couldn't control my instinct to punch him in the eye. Keeping my anger at bay, i looked at him in the eye and said, "get out of our sacred country and return to the streets of the U.S where you are nothing but an illegitimate American." He apologized immediately but the situation is a reflection of how the white man sees the colors around him.

The difference shall continue as long as there are supporters of the white. Here, i intent to mean supporters who consider a fair skin tone as one of the physical attributes of a superior race. Isn't this culture prevalent in India, in our own hometown, amidst our close-knit family members? Let's first change that passion we cherish for the fairest of them all.
