Revival Sports India.

It is high time for the nation to have a Sports Academy that is headed by the Federal Govt. and its sub Academies in each State; funded by Federal and State Governments.

Federal and State Govts. should develop advanced world class sports and games facilities in District level, State level. These academies shall conduct training in various sports and games and award  and  sport qualifications, diplomas and degrees. Entry to these academies shall be based on the grading in sports as a subject from normal educational institutions and other approved private sports training centres.

Other than the Ministers and Bureaucrats and government appointed personnel and bodies, no politician should be allowed to hold official positions in the academy.

Each State can have its own individual teams for various games and athletics. From these teams national teams are to be selected on merits to represent the country.

Sports and games Teams or individuals of other privately run organizations, while they can conduct events in its own names in India,  should be allowed to represent in various world events only after getting selected and qualified through Indian Sports academy.

Naturally, the entire sports setup shall be under RTI.

I suggest put more money into sports (aka ipl), rest everything will follow...so that sports person can live decent life out of sports...offcourse scholarships and job quotas shall be there....leave as much to private sector as possible and let the government play only tough regulator role...

Thanks Makesh for referral. Yes it is quite encouraging to see Mr Ajay Maken as sports minister in case he stays not only the level of game will improve but every thing will be transparent.

Lets look at the hawks for the their next move. All of whom has vested interest otherwise why will they object to RTI and the bill itself.

It is great to see the initiative by the new Sports minister, Mr. Maken. However, I doubt he will stay in office for more than 1 year. The hawks will stifle him.

Its time we alienate sports from politics. CWG scandal, doping scandal, et al, are looking like Frankenstein Monsters shaken the very foundation of sports in India. The Ministry of Sports Affairs have unveiled an ambitious programme for the 2012 olympics, the Ministry has been allocated a meagre Rs.1121 crores, as against the budget allocation of Rs. 3315.67 cr. in 2010-11 and Rs. 3670.13 cr. in 2009-10. Indian sports persons are really facing the hard realities in the event of slashing budget. Alternatively, BCCI is one of the richest Boards in the world, generating funds from sponsors and not seeking grants from the Government sources are refusing to come under the purview of RTI and also they are not interested in putting their balance sheet on internet, the reason for such rejection is very well known to them. Representation of sports persons in the Academy should be enhanced to 50%, instead of 25% as suggested by them.
