RFID application

Before telling you about the RFID applications, it is logical enough to inform about, what actually RFID is?.

RFID stands for Radio-frequency identification,it is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification using radiowaves.

But the application is not restricted, now the modern business practises mainly in supply chain management, logistics and other retail practises make an extensive use of RFID.

The RFID proves its applicability in wider business functioning processes like:

Apart from that one of the latest useful application of RFID is  "Smart Shelf", in which RFID readers are embedded underneath the shelf to manage real-time shelf inventory.  It helps in monitoring sales, offline markeying analysis, and real time analysis of interactive sales promotion.

The easy adaption of RFID in technical aspects is still in its infancy, but in the coming years industries will witness the benefits of Item level identification, tag cost issues.

However, it will be very interesting to know that whatwill be the future impliations of RFID and how it will create platforms for mutual benefits of consumers and retailers.
