Back out of the virtual world for a minute, and you might wonder why all these silly people are running around with those RAZR phone-toys in all their various forms. Is this just a local anomaly? I think not. Take a trip in your wayback machines and you might see Motorola pioneering the radio tech that got us started down this path.
Oh yeah, then they put a brilliant woman named Warrior in as the CTO, and that’s more than aesthetic. I think Motorola is doing quite well right now in the larger scheme. But recently when i read this interview with Padamsree Warrior, the CTO I got the real picture about motorola and their future plans...
According to padamsree warrior.. WiMAX is no longer a big bet; it is a big business. Motorola already have 40 trials in progress. The reason she is excited about WiMAX is because she think it is a disruptor. Never before has there been a wireless technology that has been deployed globally at the same time, be it developed or emerging economies. It is very affordable and as a result, you can now connect rural areas and metro areas. Furthermore, it is complimentary with existing technologies.
She sees this as a disruptor because it is more data-focused and is a flat, IP-based technology.
Now looking at the new trends that are coming up in emerging economies, Motorolas plan are very market centric because WiMAX completely bypasses the need for copper-based infrastructure...
Motorola is getting into the business of Wi Max in a big way..as it can be seen from the plans of the CTO.. But how long its going to stay as market leader only time will tell...
