China , LONGHUI COUNTY is the place!

Parents and grandarents hide and try their best to stay away from family planning officials. Parents below the legal age of marriage are at high risk. They either have to roduce marriage certificate or give about $745 to keep the baby.

Between 1999 to 2006 16 babies have been snatched this way in n Longhui County.

The abduction of children is a continuing problem in China, where a lingering preference for boys coupled with strict controls on the number of births have helped create a lucrative black market in children. Just last week, the police announced that they had rescued 89 babies from child traffickers, and the deputy director of the Public Security Ministry assailed what he called the practice of "buying and selling children in this country."

How can someone do such inhuman act? Is this is the way to control population?

In overly controlled administration, these things do happen. In China the preference for boys is tied up in the Confucian belief that male heirs are necessary to carry on the family name and take care of the family spirits. According to Confucian belief "there are three ways of being disloyal to your ancestors. Not carrying on the family name is the worse." Boys are regarded as important because they look after property; inherit land; have more opportunities to get ahead in life than daughters; care for parents when they get old; and perform important ceremonial duties when the parents die. Girls, on the other hand, have to give away any property they possess to their husband and are not supposed to take care of their parents in old age as per the traditions of China society. A daughters responsibility to her family ends when she gets married. She moves in with her husband, often in another village or town, and become part of her husband's family and helps care for them. With these beliefs the sex ratio is alarming there are 120 boys for 100 girls at present. In rural areas this ratio 100 to 67. What kind of development is this? As a nation China might be developing financially and from the infrastructural front, but people are left behind.

Thanks Malika, This happens when laws are made without considering people's sentimenats. That is when law makers consider human being also as some kind of machine.

selling the Babies not only a business in China. It is there in one tribe "Lambadi's this is a common phenomenon. But it is pathetic that they are selling particularly Female Babies. It has brought to limelight by some press and Police are awaken. This was happening from one government hospital. Alerted police booked some complaints against the male wards as scape goats. It is shame on the part of India. We are blaming China.

As a result of strict laws in China this is happening. Though this is not the way to control population and inhuman but pardon me if I say we should put such strict laws to control our population.

Thanks,Malika for referral. Strict law begets corruption.Take the case of child marriages, dowry, prohibitions, there is flagrant violation of laws. The DNA every where works the same so in China.
