What is meant by SLUMDOG

1. The film starts with a bad word in Hindi. I will not put Hindi word otherwise it will be derogatory. Indians; call them anything in English, it is respectable. Call them harijan (God’s person) it is derogatory. Call them slumdog it is respectable.

2. Indian media personalities fluent in English will explain you. This is just a hybrid of slum and underdog. An ordinary man not wanting to show his poor English will readily buy it. Why you did not tell me earlier?

3. Slumdog is an impressive word. Slumboy as was suggested by slum dweller unions would have diluted the whole film.

4. The meaning of Millionaire is explained in the last .

Let us think about movie if u have seen :

start the movie with police torture

Nothing but the host of the KBC puts him in jail that too between 2 shows

Underdog (Dalit) tortured and called slumdog in front of Dr. Ambedkar

Police torture then Chase kids

Slum kids chased by police

But  camera is looking somewhere else

Mumbai: director can see everything no Indian authorites can ever see. ( Piles of garbage, muds....)

Surprisingly they did not throw a single stone on Slumdog poster.

Why the slumboys return to Mumbai at the age of 12-13

He has to show a minor Latika in forced prostitution. If he shows it after Latika fully grows up what will be the fun in that.

Jamaal’s love running away with Salim with all the money: Is this jammal-Latika love story ?

You can not blame Director for that. Director himself discovered that he made a love story of Jamaal and Latika after he read Indian news papers.

Latika going to sleep with Salim. Jamaal looks on. Indians again ignored it.

Final song: Jai Ho:

This is the end of movie. With a pleasing poster of Rama and Sita. Oh! Rama carrying a bow at left and blessing with right. Director is too too smart. This poster is not by chance appearing there. He is giving you a clue that his Rama Lala mistake was done purposely. Anyway Director wants that you sing the song Jai Ho and go home in happy mood. He wishes that you do not try to improve India. His film should be as real even after 100 years.

Gulzar says, if poverty gives you award then show it. After all it is your poverty. Big mouth. Actually this movie got them awards. Has any Indian film wala has guts to go to any other country and do the same.

A POSITIVE VIEW OF SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

1. Many will think that the this post will give a negative view.

2. If you see the film from Indian media’s eyes than the film looks positive. But it is farce. Indian media’s eyes are a sure negative. And two negatives make a positive: (-slumdog)*(-media) = (+slumdog)

3. Do justice with movie. Take it as the way it is presented. The film is negative. Don’t distort it by taking positive out of negative.

MEANING OF SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

The word slumdog is explained earlier. Why Millionaire is added? It

is Rag to Rich story. Producer was irked by many Indians appearing in Fords list of Billionaires. And he wanted to show the reality.

What it means that: Indians are actually slumdogs some of them became millionaire not because they are genius but by chance.
