This is an extremely interesting speech by the debonair Shashi Tharoor, Indian Parliamentarian. He has cery adroitly emphasised the need for "Soft Power" coming to rule and roost globally. he says, quote " India is fast becoming a superpower, says Shashi Tharoor -- not just through trade and politics, but through "soft" power, its ability to share its culture with the world through food, music, technology, Bollywood. He argues that in the long run it's not the size of the army that matters as much as a country's ability to influence the world's hearts and minds"... unquote.

Please use this link to view this amazing speech delivered impeccably by him at the TED gathering. I have not just been impressed by his command over the thought but also impressed by his oratory skills which have rendered a very powerful quality to the thoughts. It actually convinces you to take that step forward!! Read this and hear him..

"Anyone who believes you can't change history has never tried to write his memoirs." This is what I felt after hearing and watching Shashi Tharror’s histrionic speech in TED. More-over he made India proud with his Pluralistic PR speech, it dosen’t matter how many guns you have built, it does matter with one canon though like Tharror’s speech. Thanks for sharing Makrand.

'Mantra Mugdha', how softly Mr Tharoor has spoken about soft power. Even I just wondered to see my better half that with what involvement she was watching an Indian politician making a speech & making comments over it.

Thank you all!!

Soft power is connecting & bridging gaps with the skills that have the capacity to enthrall, enrich and amuse at the same time. It automatically creates a platform of LIKE MINDED people, HEALTHY EXCHANGE of NEW IDEAS, CROSSING BOUNDARIES that are no longer RESTRICTED!! In short IT HAS THE POWER TO OPEN THE FLOODGATES OF HUMANITY AND FRIENDSHIP!!

enthralling speech by mr.shashi tharoor, narrating india's growth story in retrospect ,the developments happened at the bottleneck speed and scope lying ahead of our economy..it was spellbounding.though the the praise showered on india's pluralistic stance has thrashed by politicians(mention is subjected to present scenerio) who advocate "hindutva", hindu extremist groups like RSS and row over MARATHI MANUS.but as mentioned in speech the respect gained by indian educational institutes at par with prestigious inst.abroad ,hope indian infrastructure and rural lives will achieve the same some day and overcome the pertainig myths....

Thanks for referral on this topic. Soft power is very important in relationship management, marketing and international relations. Shashi Tharoor is a very savvy minister. We are fortunate to have such people at the helm.

In India, we are rich in SOFT POWER, but poor in marketing of the same. We need to apply marketing power to the soft power of India. In fact, the importance of soft power in marketing and other areas was highlighted by me in my blog about two years back: http://pharmaceuticalshealthcare.blogspot.com/2007/10/healthentertainment-and-mobile-two-new.html

Soft power helps in product differentiation as highlighted by me in my blogpost here: http://pharmaceuticalshealthcare.blogspot.com/2007/10/soft-power-and-single-herbal-product.html

Thanks!
