Hi,

You must have heard about 'TeachIndia - An initiative by Times of India'. By name and ads what kinds of first impression does it gives? A campaign to provide basic education to the people who are deprived of it because of various reasons like social, financial or personal (& political also). Sounds good when we know that out of three people in Inida one is illiterate.  I also thought of it as a good platform to do some good work and went for the induction. Unfortunately the reality is far different from what they advertise. They introduced us to the two NGOs (after a brief intro from them )and suggested us to join one of them, thats it. And after listening to these NGO many of us were very depressed. None of them talked about the core issue of providing education to the people who deserve to be educated instead they talked about business, fund raising, expecting money from volunteers and no plan of action for the cause. Never expected this from such a brand and NGOs.

Please share your views.

Regards,

Sanjay

I appreciate the TOI to taking such initiatives. They gave us an idae and try to facilitate the process of implementation. For any failure and success, the Corporates are not only responsible. People who get involved in the process of ground implementation needs to be more serious and dedicated for the success of Program.

Its you and me who participates in the program are responsible for the success and failure. Our dedication and priorities changes with the time and we loose the focus. Corporate can't run the program as full as there is no ROI (Return of Investment). They plan it, support it and we need to make it success.

There has only been The One Good Teacher ... His teachings remained the same, only thing is it needed to be read again and again as new lessons learnt from these teachings were what became good experiences to teach others.

Are u qualified ? Ask this yourself - and take your initiative ! If you are on this path, nothing and no one matters, excepting good associations and superior beings to yourself, to humbly keep learning and occasionally reprimanded.

Yet another example of big corporates like Bennett, Coleman & co.giving lip service to CSR. Pathetic, to say the least.

Somehow, I am very disapointed by the intellectual initiatives TOI have taken. I am really not sure whether competent people handle such initiatives.
It has happened in ICICI Bank. They come up with excellent ideas but in implementation stage, some amateurs with bookish knowledge appear to handle it and mess it up.
Pardon me if any toostep members from icici bank are hurt. This is my personal experience and I am really disappointed by both icici and toi.
In any case, both organisations need to be congratulated for the initiatives they take. If only these are effectively implemented...
