Hi Again.

I am a Indian and belongs to North India, I m working in Bangalore and doing job… “Now I m afraid of saying this”… may be some kind of Sena will come from which side and throw me out of the city. I am afraid to say that I am an Indian and my India belongs to all Indians. I am afraid of saying anything publically as my rights of speaking in Republic of India are no more. We are slave again. Slave of Internal terrorism, Dirty Politics, Recesses in country for & against Indians from different cities, states.

Today what is happening in Mumbai – is just a trailer of future of India, Indian politics and us as Indian. Our future politics is in wrong hand. We want to call us a Democratic country and our Constitution – World’s largest written constitution full of human rights, development, equal rights to the different people and most importantly saying that INDIA is one country not 31 states. Seems worth and waste today. “Saamna” says, Maharashtra belongs to Maharasthriyans, no other outsider is allowed. Bala sahib Thakrey his Sena & Raj Thakrey with his Sena are openly challenging the Indian constitution and we and our government is just changing our news channels, reading news papers to see what happens next. Who say what? I strongly believe that this situation is raised just because of us only, because we never come out of our shells. We are happy with what we have, we are satisfied that what we are doing, we strongly believe that what we did and what we are doing is right. Our individual thoughts, our individual likings are taking this country to hell. The Britishers have divided us as 2 parts but we and the leaders chosen by us are dividing us in 31 states, 1618 languages, 6400 castes, 6 Religions & 29 fests and we are more or less agree to divide. Because it is very true that not opposing the wrong or just be with wrong for any reason means that you are wrong and you have given your acceptance for this. And we have given our acceptance to Mumbai Sena for dividing us.

I am with SRK, nd I strongly believe that there was nothing wrong what he said and he shouldn’t apologize for that. My parents too taught me that India believe in “Aththi devo bhava – atithi bhagwan jaisa hota hai”… so where is SRK wrong in it. Why Baal Thakrey invited an Pakistani Cricketer to his home in 2004. Also shiv sena should through out Adnan Sami from India as he is a Pakistani and many others. We have business with Pakistan, Export, import – why shiv sena shouldn’t stop that as its agenda is no connection with Pakistan. We all know Pakistan is always against India, but this is about Games, this is about Entertainment and here Sena is wrong by stopping SRK and his new Movies. And I ask them up to SRK was playing Raj, Rahul & Ms. Suri he was an true Indian and now when he played a KHAN, now he is anti, that means that we are on the same steps as Pakistan is doing, we are now following Pakistan and it is very shameful. SRK is an Indian and he has same rights as u have & I have. Shiv Sena just want to save it’s life as a party, so that’s why they are playing dirty politics. Where were these Gunda elements (shiv sena, Ram sena & MNS), when actual terrorists attack Mumbai. They used to call them Indians & Veers fighting for India. So, my suggestion is send all of them to borders of India, we need them there. India is for all religions, it is & was accepted from thousands of years, and any person any Sena have no rights to say anything against any Indian.

I am sorry to my elders today and angry that they have given me wrong education. I was in wrong impression from my childhood. And in future forcefully someone make us said, that India is not our Country. I only belongs to UP, Meerut. And I m feeling very bad of this.

Bingo; Priya U’ve hit jack-pot with the word “Evolution”, are U reading Plato lately ;)?

Incredible to bring the process of Man evolving into a cognisant, conscientious, socially responsible-Human Being. If only THE LIVING- POLITICO INDIANS can follow the step of Lemmings, you know, they are small rodents especially of the genus Lemmus, inhabiting northern regions and known for periodic mass migrations that sometimes end in drowning, so that the new generation of Lemmings can rule. Then the new generation of homo-sapiens can see what they can achieve.

I think Sachin will also like to contribute on this concept.
I agree Shiuli, and there is no disagreement. but if we b'live it 'an evolution, then, there is no start or end, the process just goes on.. there r good phases and there r bad phases in it,, awareness and being socially responsible does help speed up the process for good..and that lot is on the increase

You disagree to agree Priya, when you say “It is city dwellers who r the most disillusioned with our democracy.” And that is what I have said in the whole earlier discussion. “The churning process” that you may be talking about is a gradual process but before the system begins the process, they have to first understand where to start atleast?
Interesting debate Shiuli, my reading is different.., It is city dwellers who r the most disillusioned with our democracy. As a researcher I hv interacted with the ‘poor, so called uneducated voters just the illiterate voters’, a bit... They r responsible, intelligent, they choose the best from the given lot.. if they hv voted in the raja bhaiyas etc.. they will be the ones who will vote out the same… they hv never voted for polarisation, several election held so far is proof to that.. if they vote on caste basis, its like a known enemy is better then an unknown one...
As I hv said in too steps before, it’s a churning process, we hv to make the system work,
Appreciate what china has achieved, but….

Politicians and their agenda!! The common man always dies in this and Sachin your anguish is certainly apt. But do not let this crap catch you at all. It will keep rising and ebbing like the waves in the sea. There is always a storm and it takes its toll.

Coming to your fear, its valid. Keep your chin up, do your job and forget about the political nonsenses. They are not worth it!! And let me be very blunt here, these mind games would be constantly a part and parcel of all our lives. The politicos need to assert themselves and they do it through such terror declarations while the cross border terrorists are the bigger threat to our lives. Democracy or not, such strategies would be adopted as long as we, people in Inida, are prepared to show that we are unified by language and not by the fact that we are One India. it is us who are always at fault as we give the politicians an agenda to exploit ourselves. Why would we need a state all to ourselves?? Why would we want to drift apart from the others?? Its really a political nonsense more than anything else.

As common people we are the ones who always grind ourselves. We get instigated by speeches and we get inspired to act maniacally. We have to look inside our own self to understand the fact that we are being played like toys because we have given the key to our lives in the hands of these politiicans. They turn the key and we do the pat that we are supposed to.

We are not puppets, we cannot be governed by the politicos. We have to rise against these unscrupulous tactics and present as ONE INDIA!! I empathise SAchin, beyond that individually I cannot do anything more. But I am quite stirred by your anguish and seriously wish you a very successful life ahead!!

Agreed Priya, that these are the myths of democracy getting interpreted in such manner which is suitable to the political parties. Most Indian politicians have used their election wins to significantly enrich themselves, according to their own pre-election declarations of assets. For example, the comparison of assets of candidates who won in 2004 and sought re-elections in 2009 shows that the wealth of UP politicians has grown by 559%, over five times, in five years, second only to their Karnataka counterparts who registered a growth of 693% in the same period, according to Sulekha.com.
Nexus of Crime and Politics:

About 153 members of the new Indian parliament have either been convicted and appealed or currently accused of various crimes. A major problem is that individuals charged with even the most serious crimes are allowed to stand if they have been convicted but their cases are under appeal, according to Times Online. “The speed of the Indian judicial system means it can take 30 years to complete a case – easily long enough to live out a full political career,” Mr Himanshu Jha, of the National Social Watch Coalition, said to the Times Online recently.

This nexus of crime and politics in India developed in two stages - in the first stage, Indian politicians used criminal elements and gangsters to control polling stations and intimidate their rivals; this gave legitimacy to these people and they decided to contest elections for themselves rather than merely act as mussel men (baahubali) for other politicians. There are many examples of this pattern, such as Munna Shukla and Shahabudin in Bihar, Raju Bhaiyya in U.P and Arun Gawli of Mumbai.
The Caste System:

The entire culture and governance of India is heavily influenced by the caste system that legitimizes abuse and exploitation of one group of people by another. It plays a significant role in voting patterns as well. Indians usually vote their caste rather than cast their votes. There is a counter argument to this concept of oppression: What about the lower caste politicians who also have risen to authority? The response is: Can they be different from the social milieu they belong to? Other issues include the lack of democratic structures inside India’s political parties and a culture of corruption fostered by a stifling level of bureaucracy.
Social Deprivation:

India, often described as peaceful, stable and prosperous in the Western media, remains home to the largest number of poor and hungry people in the world.
About one-third of the world's extremely poor people live in India. More than 450 million Indians exist on less than $1.25 a day, according to the World Bank. It also has a higher proportion of its population living on less than $2 per day than even sub-Saharan Africa. India has about 42% of the population living below the new international poverty line of $1.25 per day. The number of Indian poor also constitute 33% of the global poor, which is pegged at 1.4 billion people, according to a Times of India news report. More than 6 million of those desperately poor Indians live in Mumbai alone, representing about half the residents of the nation's financial capital. They live in super-sized slums and improvised housing juxtaposed with the shining new skyscrapers that symbolize India's resurgence. According to the World Bank and the UN Development Program (UNDP), 22% of Pakistan's population is classified as poor.
Comparison with Pakistan:

Unlike Indian democracy where middle class has a bigger role, Pakistani democracy remains largely dominated by the feudal class. Pakistani parliament is dominated by big landowners who have a sense of entitlement to rule, even though they pay no taxes on their farm income. They routinely escape prosecution for the crimes they commit against their own people. When they do get caught and charged with serious crimes, they use political influence and their deal-making power to beat the rap. Musharraf's US-sponsored amnesty (dubbed NRO) for late Benazir Bhutto, her widower Asif Zardari and other political leaders now in power offers a prime example of how the politicians are not held to account for serious crimes of corruption and murder. Some of the Taliban in Swat used the widespread grievances of the tenant farmers against their landlords as justification for Shariah-based Nizam-e-Adl to provide speedy justice.
Future of Indian Democracy:
Majority of the poor and rural Indians are sustaining democracy at a great cost to themselves in terms of the grinding poverty that defines their meagre existence. Contrasting Indian democracy with Chinese one-party rule, a British minister recently said that the number of poor people had dropped in the one-party communist state by 70% since 1990 but had risen in the world's biggest democracy by 5%. No one knows how long the average Indian will have to wait before the fruits of democracy in true reach him or her?
And the City dwellers in India are happy with the current myth of democracy.

The data and few ref have been taken from the article Challenges of Indian Democracy.

Belongingness must be there but not fanaticism.

We all are educated enough to understand the undue coverage given by media to the issue of Mumbai & Marathi. When we compelled say "I belong to India", we need to see why some parts of country have NOT progressed at par. It seems an deliberate attempts by great politicians for there political advantages. This problem might not have occurred if the overall national progress would have achieved an equilibrium. When we will achieve this equilibrium there will be less migrations and no space for such issues.

Why do people migrate from one state to another? Why Indians go to US, UK, Oz, UAE and many other places? We all know the right answer for these questions.

The very similar situation (like Mumbai) is happening in Australia. Why Australians doing odds against Indians? Please think of it.

Culturally we are rich in adaptiveness, but when it comes at the cost of existence of the originals, time and again it will result in such intolerable situations only.

I do not belong to any party, just putting my views/analysis. This needs to be controlled at national level only. If the states are resourceful for providing proper employment, this will not occur and everyone will be happy. So the problem lies somewhere else and the solutions sought somewhere else.

Every political party has it own core constituency to address, and they do it by all means. Here the problem is that its manifestation is violent and they give no space for a civilised debate.. and that needs strong condemnation by all.
Its just a phase.. it will go away, we Indians r too used to our diversity. and we hv been like this for centuries…
