@ Meena, you got it all wrong. There is nothing abt marketing or branding here. In fact even you can make a hand drier yourself - fix a motor like what comes in a hair dryer and fix it with a switch and cover et al.

To answer your question here, its all about saving money. Keeping a tissue dispenser costs both money and effort as there has to be someone to refill always. And tissues are costly in our country unlike the gulf. Towels are unhygeinic and hence the only alternative is a hand drier that most often doesnt work in public spaces in india. The only cost is the one time installation cost and even if it doesnt work afterwards - people take it in their stride. At least you cant complain that there was nothing to dry your hand with.

It is your view. Hand dryers if applied properly serve the purpose. May be instructions are missing in your case. We in India create articles and leave it to user for its use with out givimg guidance for use. Only marketing cant last long.

and the important part is the person who is behind promotion or presentation, Im not saying that he should be full of AAA, and all that, instead he should have the courage and skill to show so, 

ALL THESE ARE GIMMICKS TO INCREASE SALES.  ITS A LOOK THAT CATCHES MANY EYEBALLS TO BUY A PRODUCT. JUST AT A GLANCE MOST OF THE PEOPLE DO BUY SUCH THINGS.

At times, the Sanitary rule dictates a dryer (depending upon the Grade / Class of Hotel
or Restaurant). So we can not attribute it to the Hero. So, it is mandatory for them to fix it. Also, in many of Airport, I find dryers work well.

Indian businessmen are as clever as any one in the world. Take for instance, Natwarlal, who sold Taj Mahal and Redforts!

Who said Automatic hand dryer does not work;here in Chennai at EXPRESS ESCAPE;even a few seconds your hands are completely dry no need of paper tissue.Yes i do endorse your view point generally at other places it does not serve the purpose except for jetting out warm air.So if you pay the price you get the right product.
Moral:In the short term only  the marketing branding or salesman ship work
In the long term if the product speaks for itself;it will overshadow the other three.
Tata is a classic example;where they give top class product,they give better return to the stake holder;and the dealer and distributors are also suitably rewarded.

Them main point of concern here is does this will always be helpful in sustaining long term growth? I dont think so, as business is all about sacrificing short term profits for attainting long term growth. Moreover, this activity can't be called as a moral activity and will lead to gradual fall in the growth of the enterprise because these are the days of Social responsibility. So it would be a lot better to produce something of giving value to consumers. Force selling can be helpful for some days but it's not going to give perpetual succession to your business.
