The Fault Line in our Constitution

British ruled us for years with one policy dividing all of us. Freedom struggle was carried on to free India. In my opinion the National Congress then never fought for a really free democratic India. They actually fought to rule India in British style & people of India supported them as all of they thought that freedom only can be achieved by the Congress. Even partition took place only due to a fight for ruling between Congress & Jinnah. However Pakistan created & then dictators ruled that country. Our country also has the same fate with a difference that we have been dictated through a Constitution. For every Country there must be a Constitution. When British ruled we or dictators ruled elsewhere all got their constitution. But for free democratic country there must be a fare constitution which every common people should understand. Our own constitution is made such complicated & written in such a language leave alone common people even Experts differ in interpreting the meaning. The Constitution should be of the people for the people. This is very sad that we do not understand how we are being ruled. These complications made intentionally to suit the rulers.

Whatever I understood already I can define the intentions to cheat people. I am raising the election process defined by the constitution. Any number of candidate will fight the election & whoever gets the more vote will win. Here more votes do not represent the majority. For example if the voter turn out is 60% some body wins with 30 % votes he got only 18% mandate & still he is our representative. This is defined in our Constitution & hence we common people expect that the leaders who are elected will do better for us. The leaders on the other hand quick to understand this fault line. They understood that wining election is an art hence cheat the people dividing them with religion cast dalit etc. If required dummy candidates will be contested to divide vote & if required the voter list will be maligned.

The impact of this fault line is very dangerous. The criminals understood this theory & they are managed to be elected. The elected candidates forget their responsibility to their locality where they are elected as the people can not do any thing. An elected representative become employees of their top party boss & has to follow the coteries who never required to be elected. The people’s candidate may not get the right job only because the party top boss does not like the mass leader, take the example of Haryana,MP,Maharastra,Jharkhand.etc.In future may we be ruled by hard core criminals.

The common people are very hopeless. That is why some people give their votes in exchange of liquor, money & even for a TV for their club. Because they in long term they will get nothing hence sell the votes for immediate gains. Some people cast their vote on the basis of cast religion or group only to have a feeling that the loot may be done by some body from their religion, class or groups. If you go into deep you find even worse consequences.

There fore this fault line may be replaced with a provision of getting majority that is more than 50 %.To achieve this wherever a candidate does not get more than 50% re-election should made between two front runner. Even during casting a second choice may also be provided so that in case of no-majority situation second choices could be calculated. Also the compulsory voting should be adopted for all eligible citizens with the ground that if one needs some thing from the country they should do their duty towards the country. If this happened almost 80 % problems like corruption, criminalization of politics will end & true democracy can be availed. It is easy to pursue 18 people to rule 100 people but it is honesty, ability & calibrators that will fetch a 51 people’s mandate. Will the present political system allow this fault line to be corrected or another freedom struggle to be initiated to achieve this?
