The One Goal of All Nature

--by Swami Vivekananda

The grandest idea in Vedanta is that we may reach the same goal by different paths; and these paths I have generalised into four—viz., those of work, love, psychology and knowledge. But you must, at the same time, remember that these divisions are not very marked and quite exclusive of each other. Each blends into the other. But according to the type which prevails we name the divisions. It is not that you cannot find a man who has no other faculty than that of work, nor that you cannot find men who are more than devoted worshippers only, nor that there are not men who have more than mere knowledge. These divisions are made in accordance with the type or the tendency that may be seen to prevail in a man.

We have found that, in the end, all these four paths converge and become one. All religions and all methods of work and worship lead us to one and the same goal.

I have already tried to point out that goal. It is freedom as I understand it. Everything that we perceive around us is struggling towards freedom, from the atom to the man, from the insentient, lifeless particle of matter to the highest existence on earth, the human soul. The whole universe is in fact the result of this struggle for freedom. In all combinations every particle is trying to go on its own way, to fly from the other particles; but the others are holding it in check.

Our earth is trying to fly away from the sun, and the moon from the earth. Everything has a tendency to infinite dispersion. All that we see in the universe has for its basis this one struggle towards freedom ; it is under the impulse of this tendency that the saint prays and the robber robs. When the line of action taken is not a proper one we call it evil, and when the manifestation of it is proper and high we call it good. But the impulse is the same, the struggle towards freedom. The saint is oppressed with the knowledge of his condition of bondage, and he wants to get rid of it ; so he worships God. The thief is oppressed with the idea that he does not possess certain things, and he tries to get rid of that want, to obtain freedom from it ; so he steals.

Freedom is the one goal of all nature, sentient or insentient ; and, consciously or unconsciously, everything is struggling towards that goal. The freedom which the saint seeks is very different from that which the robber seeks ; the freedom loved by the saint leads him to the enjoyment of infinite unspeakable bliss, while that on which the robber has set his heart only forges other bonds for his soul.

Knowledge with value addition appears to be wisdom. It is the capacity to realize what is of value in life for oneself and others.
Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when it is organized into definite plans of action, and directed to a definite end. This may be the reason why equally qualified peoples and not equally successful. To harness the potential power of knowledge so that it becomes wisdom, the following should be borne in mind:
•	Make a decision to apply knowledge. Knowledge is of no use to you if it cannot be applied in a strategic manner to achieve a definite purpose. To do this you need to first formulate a life purpose based on your talents and what you would like to contribute to improve the world around you.
•	Design a plan of action to realize your vision and life purpose. Having a vision or life purpose is not enough. A vision without a strategic plan is a fantasy or fairy tale. It will never happen. A written plan, which is focused, well researched, practical, logical and time-oriented, is needed to realize a vision or dream.
•	Create short-, medium-, and long-term goals to gradually and strategically implement and execute your plans and visions. Long-term goals should be supported by short and medium-term goals. This is important since long-term goals need to be broken down into manageable parts so that the long-term goal can be more easily attained.
•	Maintaining focus and discipline. This is the most important point of all since focus and discipline gives you the ability to follow through when attempting to accomplish goals, which will then lead you to accomplish your overall plan or vision for life. You may have plans, goals, talents and dreams, but if you have neither discipline nor focus you will never be successful at realizing your dreams.
I hope this will help to some extent.

The path to liberation requires the transformation of self which involves the proper use of energy available to all, but recognized by few. Tradition has it that there are four pathways one might follow: the path of the fakir which focuses on the physical body, the path of the monk which focuses on the heart and the path of the yogi which focuses on the mind...and then there is the 4th way which is not so much a consolidation of the other three as a path dedicated to search for self and spiritual realization based on work in the everyday world. Interestingly, a fellow countryman of yours and a seeker along this path, Ravi Ravindra, has a school of practice in India.

These are the views of Revd.Swami Vivekanado.
I respect.
But, I am yet to be convinced on the point HOW SUCH METAPHYSICAL THOUGHTS HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH H.R.Professionals.
Regards Sumitajee.

Tats very true Ms Sumita, I'm also saying the same tat goal is same but looking and taking the way to it might be different, but while doing this an individual should gain knowledge and lessons from his and others experience and implement it wisely in his own way, in his own life,
we should hear to every voice but we should decide wisely to what to take from it and how to implement it in our daily life,
otherwise i don't think tat anything is wrong but it our thinking what makes things right or wrong,,

Dear Mr. santosh, I think that anyone who learns from his own experiences is smart but the one who learns from others experiences is smartest. so its just that one should know how to implement a knowledge and if thats worth implementing or not. Moreover as far as brahmkumaris are concerned i listen to them daily and i dont feel that they have a different opinion about it because whatever they say means the same, the only thing is that their way of explaining is different, the words are different but the essence is just the same.

Dear Mr. Gilbert and Mr. varghese, freedom to me is freedom from fear, freedom from ego, freedom to help others and it goes on and on like this. when we as an individual feel worried about are future and think about what happened in the past , we never bother about the present and we in that insecurity about future and regrets about the past forget our present moment and we prison ourselves in those thoughts. so freedom to me is letting these thoughts go away from your mind and enjoy from the moment that we have right now and make full use of it. Everything in this universe is in the form of energy and we release and absorb energy. whatever energy we create comes back to us manifolds. so i am of the opinion that everyone should create positive energy at least in ones thoughts because once a learned man said that "Its our thoughts that initiates our actions."
Rest i feel that everyone has his own point of view.

Definitely Sumita, U've found a very interesting thoughts, But i would also like to tell you that it is not a truth its an point of view of a particular person which is been liked by many other so he got popular, similarly if u ask to comment on a particular thing different people will give you different opinions, as people following BRhamkumari's will explain you some different opinions about life and believe me for while you will like tat also,

So concluding i will say tat, no doubt you have really given us a very interesting knowledge and pls keep doing this in future, but personally i will suggest you that live life in your own way, bcoz at the end of the day you dont fell guilty being in a situation which was created by somebody else,,,,

live life happy and lively,, best of luck

Freedom, Freedom from what? If the earth goes away from Sun there will be no life. If a wife or husband take their freedom each other their will be no family. But at The same time if you use your freedom to hold all this together, the life will continue. So use your freedom for goodness.
