A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed this warning:

"There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken said "Mr. Mouse, it is of no consequence to me."

The mouse turned to the pig. Pig Replied "Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow. Cow said "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap . ... .

Alone. . ...

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- the sound Of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it. It was a venomous snake whose tail was caught in the trap. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital.

When she returned home she still had a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup. So the farmer cut the chicken for soup's.

But his wife's sickness continued. Friends and neighbours came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

But, alas, the farmer's wife did not get well... She died.

So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them for the funeral luncheon.

And the mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and you think it doesn't concern you, remember ---

When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life.

We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

YOU MAY WANT TO SEND THIS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER HELPED YOU OUT... AND LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE. - REMEMBER - EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY. OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto In this world is a FRIEND.

It is great insight. It is a good reminder. A great lesson to remember and act.
It reminds me of the line one ocassionally reads now days that if you see some wrong happening to your neighbor and you remain silent, beware you will be the next one to suffer same

A story with moral very well narated/told by Krunal and very well read and interperated by Mr. K.Narayan. We should avoid being both the farmer and the cows/pigs/hens.

Thank you for referring this. Not being concerned about anything around us but only our own career and property has become the trend of the day, very much acknowledged as 'strength of character' and 'target-orientedness' in workplaces I see. Actually all those cows and pigs are called to be most 'intelligent' of all animal varities roaming around in the professional sectors. Nice to see people admiring parables or fables too.

In a Society full of Chicken, Pigs & Cows, Mice will have to struggle on their own, while Chicken, Pigs & Cows continue to live in rank-selfishness.

Friend in need is a friend indeed. Today, it is your problem, tomorrow it can be mine. Collaborate to overcome disaster. United we stand, divided we fall. A problem may appear deceptively trivial until it is solved. Rely on the solution and never trust the problem.

I think we can draw another lesson from this , which applies to all in this era of globalization - who was the real loser in this parable ?

The farmer of course ! In order to overcome one problem of his , the mouse , he bought a mousetrap , and then lost his chicken , pig , cow , and wife ! And why ? Because his real enemy was the snake.

Companies should note that when you tackle the wrong problems , you end up the loser , since even the problem which is solved does not help , it only creates more problems.

Thus a lot of companies consider retrenchment the first line of attack during a recession ; in actual fact , it never helps.

A very good parable, Krunal...
It is very important for all to be focused on the mouse trap and this is directly related to systemic thinking, where everybody is involved and it affects everybody.

Good story to tell people," not to be selfish". Be concerned about other's problem. May be today, you are not directly involved. But, tomorrow it may be yours.

Very Nice Kurnal. Its also quiet true.

And then to each the fruits of his/her own action. People don't want a mouse in their house because of the Mouse's "Action". However, in this case the poor Chicken, Pig and cow had to pay for all the misdeeds of the mouse.

Hence, the moral must also be "Choose your friend correctly"

Nice Story, this story applies to us also. Every person is scared of the traps and ask for the help finally finds himself alone and there is no other way then facing it.Ya if we have the sharp teeth (a power to escape) we can help over selves.
