Do our leaders and Institutions do a ‘Reality Check’ in erecting policies and taking decisions?

The other day I was reading a Professor Sigmund Freudes book on Psychoanalysis. He quotes a famous author, which states, “ humanity progresses on reality principle, where the reality is ‘necessity’, which made generations to cut down trees and ravage forests for that one thing humans all live to fulfil ‘necessity’. This means everything one does one has no choice other than make a ‘reality check’ that concurs with progress of the last 5000 years to continue progress for humans.

I also read in his work, that human instincts can be classified as ‘libido’ and ‘ego’. Societies gets ‘civilized’ to just satisfy these instincts which is their prioritised mission. This put simply means humans strive to meet their need based on reality check which is how to satisfy ones ‘necessities’.

If we look at our nation, in its growth from independence onwards we see lots of leaders and institutions created, but don’t seem to have functioned  with a clear hang on ‘reality principles’. The consequences are very visible now, and hopefully they will do a reality check on their functionality in future to make sure that they work in conjunction with the principles of progress chosen by human race to progress and meet their biologically driven ‘necessities’

Good insight Mr. Mathew. Thanks for sharing. Its amply clear that we too have great "institution builders" to fulfill bare necessities at that point in time, but not "institution sustainers"! Many wonderful institutions, thus created with good intent, are in shambles now!

Yes Sarika Reality Check is necessary but it should emerge from gross root level. Govt.,People should move towards same direction in making a policy successful & it should beneficial to one and all & implementation will also be easy.

As long as any policy is honest & realistic people will not hesitate to support the policy & its implementation.

Thanks,Sarika for referral. Necessity is the mother of Invention. The reality check comes out of our need and pave the way for continual improvement.I think, what Mr Mathew wanted to crack the code of Realty check is this modern world which is the sum total of those institutions who helped achieve our existing life style.

Thanks Neelima for invite
Good debating point....
Leaders should be first good example for the followers.
Thanks for the reference Sarika.

One must definitely do a reality check every now and then, but it's important to sometimes ignore the possible and simply attempt the impossible/ideal.

Thanks for referral Ms. Neelima Pandey,
Can it be possible always?. Say, for example, the taxation in petroleum products. We all know the price-hike(Necessities) but, can it be virtually checked by the policy makers?. It is the desire of the Global population. Reality check for Individual varies in degrees. So much goes for political group. Now, tell me the criteria that you fix for the reality check. Better thing is to measure performance periodically with effective tools & ensure that the policy has made positive impact on the group/population.

It doesn't take much to do a "realty check" provided our intentions are honest. Yes, it is true that we have created many institutions, individuals and idioms without doing any assessment about its feasibility. That is why I say we are the biggest hypocrites on this planet.

Reality check! Hope everyone forgotten? Its difficult in this matrialistic world which everyone is occupied in survival of the fittest concept without undestanding the what the fittest means.

Many a time preachers themselves fail to demostrate what it means to them. Once a HR person said to me that the biggest motivator is demonstration by self. How many f us really do it. As written by Mr.Khaitan, i have seen many institutions written their own polices to attact in terms of jargons and not by practising.

This is an wonderful topic to be debated in the big fight.
Good one sir. Today's necessities may not be tomorrow's necessities. Things go on change. We must modify ourselves to meet the need of the day. This is a never ending process. If you stop, you are out of fray and become obsolete. It is applicable to the institutions, organisations and individuals as well. But we are missing this.

Well, I guess, I am more optimistic about it. We, at large, were not that bothered about the institutions. The power was so centralized. With the opening up of the economy, people have tasted some power. When only you have a car, do you want good roads. When only you have phone, you want fair rates on each call. We now need these institutions to protect and facilitate fair distribution of power. We are thus redefining the institutions as per our necessity.

We can change India with or without Baba Ramdev & Anna Hazare

There are only few problems

1. We are not united / Unanimous

2. We are not taking the Lead

3. We are egoistic & always fighting

4. Not really interested in Solutions

5. Always blaming others

6. Hatred of any kind

Solutions

1. Honesty

2. Love / Respect

3. Truthfulness

4. Faith / Trust

5. Perseverance

6. Determination
