What is Happiness and Sadness

Budha in Bhodgaya came to the conclusion that pursuit of 'dravya' is the cause for all human suffering. Then he went to Nepal and propagated this ascetic state as the solution to human problems.

Modern science like psychology which is internal medicine per se has lot of offer in this regard. Take for example 'sadness' which is nothing other than repressed fear and anxiety. It is the work of ones unconscious.

Detachment is nothing but ones ego gets encapsulated in ones libido and one finds tranquility. Once the libido is on an excursion from ego and which always seek instinct fulfillment then one is always sad, concurrently if the ego too need fulfillment or gratification 'conflict' results in sadness which medicine calls as 'neurosis' which happens to be one of the most painful of sicknesses and can lead one to sadness.

Happiness I feel is nothing other than paranoid delusions, which is momentary and if one has repeated sadness and happiness intertwined then one is manic depressive. Such people tend to be happy one moment and sad the other for reasons that can be explained only if one get an opportunity to search their unconscious which they usually don;t allow and so generally psychosis underwhich it is classified don't have cure in psychology one has to meet  ones nemesis.

Swami Vivekananda said "The man in the forest does not know what it is to be jealous, to be in the law courts, to pay taxes, to be blamed by society, to be ruled over day and night by the most tremendous tyranny that human diabolism ever invented, which pries into the secrets of every human heart. He does not know how man becomes a thousand times more diabolical than any other animal, with all his vain knowledge and will all his pride. Thus it is that, as we emerge out of the senses, we develop higher powers of enjoyment, and at the same time we have to develop higher powers of suffering too. The nerves become finer and capable of more suffering. In every society, we often find that the ignorant, common man, when abused, does not feel much, but he feels a good thrashing. But the gentleman cannot bear a single word of abuse; he has become so finely nerved. Misery has increased with his susceptibility to happiness. This does not go much to prove the evolutionist's case. As we increase our power to be happy, we also increase our power to suffer, and sometimes I am inclined to think that if we increase our power to become happy in arithmetical progression, we shall increase, on the other hand, our power to become miserable in geometric progression. We who are progressing know that the more we progress, the more avenues are opened to pain as well as to pleasure. And this is MAYA".

Anything with a 'sense' has a psychic complex which need be dissolved for one to be mentally so physically healthy. Happiness is with a sense so is not in the true sense healthy to live for and probably nothing can bring perpetual happiness or satisfaction. Like Professor Frued stated humans are in error always and we humans don't have the efficiency to meet all the demands nature expects from us so the collective erroneous nature of humans. Professor Einstein said we as humans don't have the mental capacity to understand everything in nature. Homer in Illiad sings, humans are the most horrible and trecherous forms under nature. Considering all these classical thoughts one need to elicit Goethe in Faust that humans need be 'simple' and 'gentle' in their life and actions.

The Happiness is feeling directed inwards, and state of mind in which it perceives the feeling of satisfaction, achievement and delightedness. The happiness is fast process as it gets melted away very fast like ice. One cannot hold the feeling of happiness for long time. The perception of mind, body and soul when together are in state of satisfaction, the feelings of happiness become visible to others. Winners are happy Losers are sad.

The sadness is exactly opposite.

If you can clarify which areas of my writing that are not clear to you, I shall try to explain. If it is that some of the psychoanlytical terminologies are alien to you, then I have some previous blogs in this forum on psychology which you can refer for definitions etc; Thanks.

Ms. Neha, I wrote this as a comment to a referral by Sulgana Brhama to me on the same topic. Then the browser failed to upload it into the blog, so I had to place it in as a separate idea, so probably the confusion. It requires probably some understanding of 'psychoanalysis' to understand what I wrote.

Both are state of mind based on individual perception of current time and also memory of past as well as resultant of individual outcome out of individual desires at particular instant, mega-egoistic mirage plus reactivity...At times, one is on comparative mode particularly while assigning individual possessions against other and that is one of prominent causes of unhappiness..!!!..
