Once there were two friends, one was a Gurmukh and the other a Manmukh. Their friendship was deep but Gurmukh believed in God while Manmukh did not. Gurmukh would wake up early in the morning, take a bath and recite the holy hymns while Manmukh would still be in bed sound asleep. Once they were going on a journey through he forest. As they were passing through the forest Manmukh found a bag of coal. He was very happy because he could sell it and make some money. As they further walked while talking about how lucky Manmukh was to find the bag of coal, Gurmukh screamed with pain. It appeared that a splinter went in Gurmukh’s leg. While Gurmukh was in pain, Manmukh started laughing. Gurmukh was surprise and asked him that why was he laughing. Manmukh said, “You have been worshipping God everyday and what you got is a splinter in your leg. I have never worshipped God and I still got a bag full of coal from which I can make money.” An old wise man happened to me passing them when he heard Manmukh’s comments. The old man had a big ironic smile on his face. Manmukh was astonished when he saw the old man smile. Manmukh asked the old man to what was he smiling? The old man replied, “You are naïve. You do not worship God. You were destined to find a bag of diamonds today if you have been worshipping God. And Gurmukh, you were destigned to die at the moment you got the splinter in your leg. Because you have been worshipping God, the pain of death simply turned into a splinter.”

Irony of life! It is said and known that God takes away from you the thing which is the most dearest sooner than you would want it. Its his way of telling you that you are DESTINED for something even more better! Good things will always happen to bad people and bad things to good people. Its a mirage. Bad in definition means that; "having undesirable or negative qualities". Now you find a surprise laid out in front of you and you grab it thinking you were lucky, think that if not for COAL it would have been diamonds! That would indeed be a better dividend if you had been praying! Similarly, if you were destined to be hurt or even die, because you pray you have been only pierced! Patience pays in a big way. To pay your respect to Him is a way of acknowledging that what you deserve is what you get! But by not doing so you may miss out on BIGGER things in life! Take the case of Krishna & Sudama. For a handful of puffed rice Sudama got a palace! Very good example indeed! The bigger lesson that you learn is to accept what you have and move ahead! Emotions are in control and you have FAITH in your actions.

the victorious army was passing by , the king's daughter saw the lazy bugger ( now fully cured " fell in love with him ( lazy buggers are handsome , as they are tension free )

First one should be able to define what is Good and what is Bad.
Secondly, this definition should hold good and same for all Gurmukhs and manmukhs of the world. Then only comparison is possible
Third, please do not undervalue God, to human level by saying he would do good to us materially (in terms of Diamonds and cash) or harm us physically in the form of death and pain, just because one did not pray to him and the other prayed.

God does not change his plans for us based on our minisicule prayers. God does not benefit us by giving us material and mortal benefits. God is immortal. God's creation is flaw less. So god does not have to alter his plans or reduce the pain based on our short term and selfish prayers.

Everything in this world is given by God and it is good only. There is nothing in this world that is called as Bad. Still if we wish to call bad, then we are judging or benchmarking God's creation based on our likes and dislikes, our perceptions etc.

Things do happen in nature no matter whatever it is, every thing in this craetion is just a part of it.
