The Indian retail sector is ready to take on challenges from global retail players such as Wal-mart and Carrefour because unlike them, they have a better understanding of the Indian consumer’s psyche. Ultimately, a successful retailer is one who understands his customer. The Indian customer is looking for an emotional connection, a sense of belonging. Hence, to be successful any retail outlet has to be localised. The customer should feel that it is a part of his culture, his perceived values, and does not try to impose alien values or concepts on him. Indian customer is not keen to buy something just because it is sold by an international company. Ultimately, it boils down to how much loc...

The present low-key situation in the Indian Metro cities residential property market including Mumbai probably will last for some more time as there are numerous factors that are economic, political and global this time around. Let us understand the situation once again. The present market probably has more genuine home buyers or first home buyers than ever seen before, as investors are chilling out on their last investments and they are in no mood to look around in this market where they will not see major capital appreciation. What will drive a buyer home today will be quality, Quality do not mean just quality of homes or of the buildings inside. A new definition here all together for qua...

'Many people feel like they have to push themselves to unhealthy levels in order to succeed. But high-pressure jobs and long hours take a real toll on your immediate and future health,' said George Griffing, M.D., professor of internal medicine at Saint Louis University. These are the seven worst habits of workaholics, according to Griffing. 1. Eating on the go: Between meetings, conference calls and deadlines, workaholics forget to take out time to sit down for a healthy lunch. But a good meal is exactly what a person needs to st...
