It was the first day of a school in USA and a new Indian student named Chandrasekhar Subramanian entered the fourth grade. The teacher said, 'Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death'? She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Chandrasekhar, who had his hand up: 'Patrick Henry, 1775' he said. 'Very good!' Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?' Again, no response except from Chandrasekhar. 'Abraham Lincoln, 1863 ' said Chandrasekhar. The teacher snapped at the class, 'Class, you should be ashamed. Chandrasekhar, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do.' ...

Rules to Increase Sales - Instore   Sharpening selling skills and increasing service standards has never been as important as it is today, considering the current downturn and footfall being far below what it was the same time last year.  The average buy per customer has also fallen.    The following is the burning question that is the key to sustainable sales and maximum results: -   How do we increase sales within the same footfall and increase the ticket size per customer?   You may not be able to guarantee an increase in footfall, but you can surely increase sales within the same footfall. The following are a few pointers in that direction: -   v     Sell higher-price-point products to ...

How to Earn More and Work Less Do you want to continue working 50, 70, 100 hours a week the rest of your life? Good! Neither do I. Do you want to be able to take time off whenever you want to, without worrying about what's going to happen to your business? So do I! There's a saying in the corporate world: 'Don't make yourself irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.' As an entrepreneur, this is still true in its own way. Let's think of 'being promoted' as earning more and working less. You can raise your prices, but until you can remove yourself from being directly involved in doing the work that generates the income, there's always going to be a limit to how much you...

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and ask him for a Phone Call. Shop-owner replied, 'Sweety, this is no a STD, but you can do one call.'   The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation: The boy asked, 'Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn? The woman replied, 'I already have someone to cut my lawn.' 'Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.' replied boy. The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who was presently cutting her lawn. The little boy found more perseverance and offered, 'Lady, I'll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the pretties...

TEN SECRETS TO BE A BETTER PERSON 1st Secret: THE POWER OF THOUGHT Love begins with our thoughts. We become what we think about. Loving thoughts create loving experiences and loving relationships. Affirmations can change our beliefs and thoughts about others and ourselves. If we want to love someone, we need to consider his/her needs and desires. Thinking about your ideal partner will help you recognize him/her when you meet him/her. 2nd Secret: THE POWER OF RESPECT You cannot love anyone or anything unless you first respect them. The first person you need to respect is yourself. To begin to gain self respect, ask yourself, what do I respect about myself?? To gain respect for others, even t...

Now that its available, my first experiences with Microsoft Bing lead me to a simple, inescapable conclusion, 'So what?' I had imagined that something as widely hyped as Bing would be a life-changing experience. It wasn't. Not even close. It is not that I dislike Bing , so much as I just couldn't care less. If something really must be an order of magnitude better to convince happy users of another product to switch, then Bing, launched days early as a 'preview' is no threat to Google. Actually, Microsoft calls Bing a 'decision engine,' which is appropriate since running a dozen of my recent searches on the service helped me make a quick decision: I like Google more. Why? 1.   Bing is striki...

Back to Basics in HR   When I was a kid we played outside. We played games that we made up. We played baseball using patches of dirt for the bases. We played the games and were our own referees. Our parents were nowhere to be found. And we didn’t need them. What happened to us in business? Companies don’t start out with giant policy manuals and “annual processes.” Startups get moving and do the work. They don’t need rules because everyone knows what they need to do. They know how their actions affect company success. And their performance isn’t adjusted once a year — it’s done every minute every day. Then the rules start. Do you see kids out there today organizing their own pickup baseball ...

Why does it happen that two people who share a deep relationship all off a sudden stand apart like the two parallel shores of a river called as life?
