Tech Lead / Manager , Google India, Bangalore/Bengaluru

Google's engineering teams exhibit high energy, deep technical skills and a drive to get things done. Our Engineering Managers need to be technical leaders and motivators who are comfortable leading these teams in a high-pressure, dynamic – and global – environment. Jobs are broadly defined and interact with Product Management, Sales and other groups at Google.

We need world-class technical managers to lead the development of the next generation of Google products. Our engineering team is working on problems in a number of areas, including cutting-edge information retrieval algorithms, large-scale cluster computing, systems software, Java applications, and a variety of novel search products. As a TLM you lead 6-12 engineers on 2-4 projects and are responsible for all aspects of these projects (technical success, mentoring and training, project schedules, code reviews, etc).

This position is not a pure management position; TLMs are expected to contribute technically to their project, and the interview process will emphasize technical skills and management/organizational skills equally

Requirements:

• University Degree in Computer Science (Ph.D. a plus).
• 4+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience with a record of strong individual technical achievement.
• 2+ years of relevant experience leading projects of small to moderate size.
• People management skills, proven track record of mentoring and coaching team members.
• Strong C/C++ or Java programming skills.
• Substantial knowledge of UNIX/Linux or Windows environments.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, machine learning, information retrieval algorithms, network programming, Linux kernel, and/or large software systems.
• Enthusiasm for solving interesting problems.
• Fluency in English.
