SPEAK DIRECTLY K S Venkataraman It is a very common occurrence in life to see some people talking not directly. It is a trick employed by mischief-mongers to provoke somebody else in the group or present in the vicinity. Think of a room occupied by ten persons. Four persons are playing carom board and five fellows are watching. One is combing his hair and dressing. Obviously he is starting to meet somebody. One person playing carom board suddenly says loudly, “There is a boy here, who is thinking that he is Mister Universe and that girls stand in queue to become friends to him. But the truth is something very different.” The guile reference is obvious and all others laugh aloud, some of the...

 Focussed & Disciplined approach

if one is going to take everything as it comes, the significance of human effort is lost. Our approach should never be casual. It should be focused and disciplined.

Of Course it is smart work
Kumbakonam S Venkataraman  |  Argues in support of  "hard work"  |  4 months ago
Hard work means striving hard using all your resources at your disposal, including your brain. Smart work means intelligent way of doing. So, Hard work includes within it the smart work also.

70% hardwork and 30% luck essential for going top
Kumbakonam S Venkataraman  |  Argues in support of  |  4 months ago
Luck by its own definition is not in our hands. It is, therefore, not at all a factor to be considered by achievers.

Good debate !!!  Successful people don't believe in luck. They are hard workers !!!

Obviously good because you are never going to be out of a job as long as commerce exists in this world. Plus even if you are, your own internal network can have you placed easily.

Challenges are common in all the fields. Human Resources is a good functional area because that happens to be the foundation for all other activities.
Anna George  |  Argues in support of  "Bad"  |  8 months ago
Whether HR is good or not depends on individual to individual. If you love the job of a HR, it is the best job, if you hate it, its the worst. Now you have to decide whether you really have the passion to be a HR. If yes, definitely go fir it, if...

Practicing personal courage is necessary if you want to really resolve conflicts at work. It is much easier and much safer to ignore the necessary conflict and play ostrich. Unfortunately, unresolved conflict tends to escalate. It never really disappears because it simmers just below the surface. Think of water that is coming to a boil. It burbles up in the pot sporadically and then finally reaches the boiling temperature. At that point, a full blown rolling, constant boiling is seen on the surface of the water. Conflict behaves similarly. The water may seem calm, but every once in awhile, usually at the worst possible times, the conflict burbles up to the surface once again. Unresolved con...

Thanks for the informative write-up. In addition to the appropriate procedural steps and methodology of conflict resolution, it is our dispassionate and impartial attitude and open-mindedness that proves to be helpful. If only we can build...

Definitely Conflict resolution will go a long way in building a healthy relationship among people and this is specailly important in a workplace where misunderstandings or friction between employees will be detrimental for the organisation as a whole

Beautiful Thought by Lord Buddha     Once Buddha was traveling with a few of his followers. While they were passing a lake, Buddha told one of his disciples, 'I am thirsty. Do get me some water from the lake.' The disciple walked up to the lake. At that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy and turbid. The disciple thought, 'How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink?' So he came back and told Buddha, 'The water in there is very muddy. I don't think it is fit to drink.' After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake. The disciple went back, and found that the water was still muddy. H...

After Years of telling people chemotherapy is the only way to try and eliminate CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS is Finally starting to tell you there is an Alternative way .     Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins : 1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size. 2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more tha...
