Windows Mobile phones can act as portable ultrasound scanners (left), thanks to hardware and device drivers created by engineers from Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). It's said the development will bring ultrasound imaging to the 70 percent of the world's population that currently lacks it. According to WUSTL, William D. The future of data mining lies in predictive analytics. The technology innovations in data mining since 2000 have been truly Darwinian and show promise of consolidating and stabilizing around predictive analytics. Variations, novelties and new candidate features have been expressed in a proliferation of small start-ups that have been ruthlessly culled from the herd by a perfect storm of bad economic news. In addition to a perfect storm of tough economic times, now improving measurably, one reason data mining technology has not lived up to its promise is that 'data mining' is a vague and ambiguous term. It overlaps with data profiling, data warehousing and even such approaches to data analys...

yes a good article indeed but then there is very good description of datamining overlapping with others in the process, and predictive analytics is going to be used in many ways like in banking and other core sectors as well.

I agree with Mr. subhash, when the customer is not clear of their need, it becomes the duty of the project manager to ask the right questions and perform the analysis necessary to turn the lacking vision into a formally-documented software.

The pace of change in modern business is breathtaking. Globalization has famously “flattened” the world, leveling the playing field between the once mighty superpowers and the emerging third world economies. Furthermore, the events of the second half of 2008, where established financial institutions vanished overnight, have sent ripples through the entire fabric of the world’s economy. This means that nimble new competitors seize both global and regional market opportunities that previously have been taken for granted by the established multinationals. In addition, the Internet has accelerated this shift by making accurate information instantly available to all consumers, thereby placing do...
