The answer to this question is Yes. In order to lead a team a Leader should have the expertise in the field so that his/her subbordinates follow. So the IT manager must possess the technical skill.

Thin client vs thick client Today I was doing yet another desktop computer installation. Customer purchased new PC and wanted to shift from old obsolete unit to brand new one. As they don't have server or even shared file storage space I had to manually search through whole PC and look for files and folders to back up. Luckily user kept all his stuff in My Documents folder, so in addition to that folder I had to 'save' Outlook . pst files and his Favorites. Search and transfer of files from old to new PC took me around 30 minutes. Only now was I able to start fine tuning new PC. For me it usually means installation of Windows and Office patches, download and installation of various software...

One day while walking down the street a highly successful Human Resources Manager was tragically hit by a bus and she died. Her soul arrived up in heaven where she was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter himself. 'Welcome to Heaven,' said St. Peter. 'Before you get settled in though, it seems we have a problem. 'Well, I'd like to, but I have higher orders. What we're going to do is let you have a day in Hell and a day in Heaven and then you can choose whichever one you want to spend an eternity in.' 'Actuall...
