If high availability and performance is critical I prefer to go with
iSCSI (if distance and the logistics between servers and the arrays are
an issue and security over the lan is not a concern) otherwise I would
select a Fibre Channel solution.
Neither solution is a one size fits all, it really comes down to
your technology and business needs. iSCSI is a nice compromise between
traditional NAS and SAN, and also fairly affordable compared to going
the Fibre Channel route while Fibre can give you a lot of speed,
security, and reliability.
