What advice will you give to someone who is planning be a project manger for the first time ???.
Advice for junior/new project manager???
I hope this is not too late to give you the answer.
1) If you can get your hands on the book titled "Accidental Manager" please go through it. It is a good book on what happens when someone takes over as a project manager
2) Dont think that you are alone, ensure that when in doubt, ask for help and just dont hesitate to ask for any assistance
3) Focus on metrics - ensure that you track your projects by numbers
4) Remember that the team that you lead are humans and treat them as you would want them to treat you
5) See if you have time to visit www.manager-tools.com as it has many free podcasts on various topics that you can listen and improve your outlook towards what needs to be done.
