As we are aware most of the Builders/ Contractors whether working on Large Budgets or say even smaller budgets projects like individual houses are not Qualified Civil Engineers, still they are more successful in their business- How?
Their SUCCESS questions the potential of CIVIL Engineers graduating every year...!!!
Kindly put forward your views on this...???
Dear Sir,
All cotractors / builder non technical are sucessfull because they gainknowledge by experience and being practicle technically & commercially they are sucessfull.A technically qualified person may not be able to controll the project commercially, which is a must for the sucess of any project.where ever such people lack they hire technically qualified people and make their optimum use.
"PRACTICE MAKE MAN PERFECT" Its true for some extent in this topic.Money & Power Plays a vital Role here."The tender "people get by bribing, no doubt to keep up their reputation they will heir the well qualified Civil engineers with experience.Very Very Few will fit into this staement " PRACTICE MAKE MAN PERFECT"
As said above, "Experience makes the person perfect", its right to some extent. If we consider builders or contractors, they are working on similar projects for couple of years and copying the same techniques in other similar project. If we give different project to them, they cant do. Where as civil engineer graduates are considered, they know the basics which can be applied everywhere. In our graduation, if the topics are taught both technically and practically, every civil engineer can do the project after his graduation.
All of us know that if we have the qualities Knowledge, Hard work, Attitude, Luck, Burning desire to devolop and Continuous strive against the situations, some day we also can get the above said success. We, Graduate Engineers may have or not have all this qualities but we can gain the knowledge of 20 years experience of a non-technical man in 5 years. We learn in 4 years and experience in 5 years where as he experience in 20 years. And the remaining qualities can be doveloped by any others. We can see so many non graduate successful men in the other industries also.
They may not be having degree or diploma certificate of civil engineering. But they have the aptitude / ability to understand constrution bussiness. The major requirement of being a builder or contractor is , resources full, administrative skill , communication skill. It is applicable to all types of works. They learn lessons from their failures & success.
I Guess these are the guys who are having a family background of construction like the Mestri (that is what is called in south India) the person who looks after the construction projects and plans the structure.....and they would have gained reputation with their work and got more work with the mouth of referral and viral marketing from the people who he built the house...He himself got so much work that he then started getting architects to design and then he started his own business.....i have seen many contractors and builders who don't even have a degree, they just have the basic knowledge and experience in this field which i guess no degree gives him....and he has a strong referral through his people for the other projects......
Nitin sir ,
Every one knows one phrase that ‘EXPERIENCE MAKE MAN PERFECT”
When the candidates pass their degree, theoretical they are sound but practical they are weak, and construction is the industry where u should have practical knowledge for success. This is the field where any one can stand if they have experience .
