It is said when the slaves build a pyramid, they will be buried in it along with the dead king. In other words, they wont enjoy or earn anything from their hard effort. Does India's need for development and our effort towards it has the same effect ?.

Most of our "freedom fighters" and the father of our nation had no chance in guiding the nation further or enjoying the earned freedom after its independence.  Are we the new race of  "development fighters" ?. What will be our end ?.

This question is not quite clear to me. Plus what will be our end.. no one know that.. There are people who are saying that world is going to end tomorrow.. So why should we think of it? Why should we worry about the end. Can't we just do our best and forget the rest??

Thanks Patrick for the referral. When Means are not clearly defined where is the question of end.

The Positive Meaning of END  IS EFFORTS NEVER DIES

Hey Basil, excellent topic.

I read the article at the address you gave. Two sentences struck me:

  • Fudai is the village that survived—thanks to a huge wall once deemed a mayor’s expensive folly and now vindicated as the community’s salvation.
  • Their [Fudai Elementary School's] coach, Sachio Kamimukai, was born and raised in Fudai. He said he never thought much about the floodgate until the tsunami. “It was just always something that was there,” said Kamimukai, 36. “But I’m very thankful now.”

From this I gather that: People who have vision & wisdom, may have their decisions questioned - just as much as people who are not doing a good job.

Also, the general populace - of any country - is not very bright or does not prefer to think properly about many important things.

What are we - Indians - missing? What are we foolishly avoiding thinking about properly? How many things are we leaving to other people to do?

And why are we surprised when these people (who do things for us) take advantage of the position that we - in our laziness - gave them?

Most of the political parties that exist today are not the end result of our independence. They were created for freedom struggle. Their motive was freedom. Now that we have achieved the freedom to an extent, i think its time to decommission these parties like a dialysis, which will refresh the parliament with new blood, new ideas and new strategies that might lead our nation by considering long term benefits. Those who are in shares will understand the importance of investing long term.

In my previous posts i stated that, in India we have a self correcting system which is perfect. But it is correcting the blunders of politicians and the laws implemented by them. Because of this the system cares less about the welfare of the people and cares more about its survival. It is giving itself a homeopathic therapy - invent the disease and then find its cure - . Due to this self centered correction process the people who runs the system (politicians) or the ones who supports it (voters) often becomes its lab rats.

We all know that election is initiated by the system according to the law like an alarm in the clock. But the people (voters and politicians) haven't changed its battery since independence. Suppose if this system is our child, what will happen if we feed the same quantity of food from day one, what will happen if we dont invest in the child's welfare ?. If the nature is kind then the child will become a kind hearted oliver twist under the harsh society or a nazi concentration camp guard leading helpless to the gas chambers. The development that we see today is actually the interest of some people who can afford or manipulate the system runners (politicians). The system is tied to the superior interest. Remember, Democracy is run by the majority not by superiority.

We all know that we have these talent hunt for resources (employees, stars etc). Why cant we have a similar serious talent hunt for finding political candidates ?. Such an investment to the system might revive its running policies or behavior under the new minds. We have municipal corporations, panchayats, resident associations, doctors association, teachers association etc etc. Why cant these groups take initiatives in assembling a live program that introduces an alternative to existing politicians and their stagnated policies ?. We have associations that arrange money and people for festivals, marriage etc. Why cant we arrange money for a suitable candidate of our likeness to the next election ?. Maybe he/she lacks experience, but there is no wrong in giving a try ?. Its not like we are giving him/her the switch to the nuclear weapons ?. If farmers, coolies, beggars, women are all facing problems why cant they join together, share the resources and attempt to win the heart of the system by introducing a candidate that can understand their real problems ?. Why it always have to be Congress or BJP or communist ?. Election is not a Bollywood movie. Yes, we do have independent candidates for election but that has to happen in a large scale. - Divide and conquer  - should be the policy when it comes to political control. Such a variety in the system will make it a real democratic machine. Just imagine inorder to pass a bill one has to get support even from the beggar's representative. Some of us will have a hard time in seeing beggars and prostitutes or even shikandhi's in our Parliament but remember its a people's house not a palace for kings and queens. And also we have our president and governor's have to hold the prestige, image and order above them. We have IAS, IPS etc officers to avoid blunders. Or else we can impose a dress or conduct code to avoid ridicule and bias like in schools. But again if Gandhi can make it to the foreign nations in a single cloth and get respect, what is the real problem here ?. Regarding certain areas like finance, foreign relations our universities can arrange their best candidates for the people to vote for or employ as a guidance. Why do we have IIT's, AIMS and IIM's for ?, to enhance foreign societies that calls us slumdogs.

Well...all these look an impossible quest. I know some IT guys who cant even install an OS. Not because they dont know, its because they dont care. As long as GOI's has a pulse, it wont even get an attention that a beggar gets in the bus stand. Like my boss used to say, dont fiddle with it unless it is broken. This should be the attitude  if one want to stand on safe side of their life without bothering others. But do you think our freedom fighters thought about this safe side ?. Or were they that smart ??. I have no idea what kind of forefathers we had. How come they got into the control of British brutality. Just look at the size and wealth of the nations, both British and India at that time ?. We were rich, we had faith in 1000's of Gods who could protect us from all harms when compared to them. How come our forefathers got fooled and cheated ?. Are we better equipped to see or survive the unseen enemy ?. Remember, India was great at that time and is also great today. It looks like both past and present we were used to generate income ????. In past it was east india company and now its the IT companies ????. Are we the tech farmers of the West ???. If you look most of the innovations happen there not here.

Just think how many engineers are wasted on an yearly basis ????. What are the plans GOI has for these wasted people ?. All NAASCOM's and HR's do is complain the lack of employable resources. Are they capable of recycling these wasted resources ????. Or do these people really care ????. Or even if they put their efforts in recycling the looser's, will they get loyalty, commitment or reasonable quality of service in return ???. Take a good look at the attrition rates. Take a good look at the suicide news. No one knows what they really want or where they are heading to ???. There is no clarity in communication or information. Media does its best to feed in incomplete sentences, thereby keeping people in constant confusion. All are swimming in the safe side in the ocean of this confusion, somehow managing to procreate and die without getting screwed by the unpredictable wind of change.  I am not sure about other fields. In general - Every man for himself - is the policy here.

People say we will be better in 2016 or 2020, but the system is actually becoming a kali under the control of superiority not by majority; killing anything that stands in its progress. Otherwise how come we have people rioting for forced land acquisition, states fighting for water, railways, foreign investments ????.

Read this and you will know how a politician should foresee; Bofors by Rajiv Gandhi could be a similar story:

Government administration is the hardest and continue process of solving problems of general publics and individual also which is not possible except expert hands and clever brains so every subjected concern must be in the hand of governor authority. This theory is used in most of the countries. This parameters are most essencial  factors for any noble nation  but we experience the fact at present that every most urgent and common needs are ignored and expensive and none productive plans are applied for personal development and welfare.E.G. prise rate of foods, oils, fuel, are touching the sky but nobody care of that. The definition of development is changed in Indian politics.Do you believe that hardship to common man and comforts for political person? In employment any most qualified person is selected while in politics any most unqualified is elected what a tragedy? or comedy? Absolute constant democracy can only help to develop for all factors and direction.Which is very far for India....JAI HIND.

The freedom fighters were promised freedom in the end for their struggle. There were leaders to organize and motivate them. Some of them got exploited or left with a weak legacy, some survived leaving a strong legacy and the smart ones currently wields the power and fame with a legacy meant to keep the control. If we are a race of development fighters whose sole purpose is to bring India to a new level (super power, economic power blah blah blah), I believe some of us will face the same fate as those who got exploited for the cause of this achievement. Then again some of us will survive leaving behind the legacy to continue the story and the so called opportunists will rule and start creating the next level for their benefit.

This question is a kind of philosophical - circle of life and is meant to initiate thinking but not finding an exact answer. Yes, i agree that there is no point in worrying about something that is beyond our control. We can ask like - Who and what initiated this struggle ?. Who are our current leaders that is promising these developments ?. What are their promises ?. Some say 2012  etc etc but remember, it took more than 100 years to get India the promised freedom and pakistan is one of the end result which still puts us in constant alert. The first time i got a computer was in 2000 and an ATM card and mobile phone was in 2001 and at that time people considered those as luxury items in the hands of a teenager. So are we getting exploited for the cause that we may not witness or enjoy during our life time ?. India will become a super power or a rich nation; What next ?. Is it worth fighting for ?. Where will we or our legacy stand when the next 1947 comes ?. What will be our next blunder like pakistan ?.

Pratik, thanks for referral.  Even they are not clear about the Means, where is the question of talking about end?  We are yet to find an honest, conscious-driven leader to take on the existing system.  We have witnessed heat in the well begun agitation!  If the Apex Court, suo motu, initiatives cleansing process, then things would go alright under their cover, otherwise not!

Thank you Pratik for the referral. The question is not clear to me too.

It is true that our freedom fighters could not enjoy the freedom brought by them. The fact is that they did not work for themselves, they worked for the welfare of the future generations. We plant a seed today with a hope that it gives fruits to the next generations.
