If you are talking about social media product launch (e.g. another orkut / twitter / bigadda.com ) then market is popped up with many products. As every next day I get invitation joining some or other online community. So if one is looking to have another similar product line then must derive clear differentiator with existing player.
If you are talking development time of such product then ideally it should be within 12 months from conceptualization to beta launch.
