Since few months every big and small shop is charging people for plastic bags. Some good people do bring their own bags and others think there is no loss in giving 2 rs for a plastic bag when thye are buying things worth 200 of may be 2000. Basically they do not understand the concept of 'Say no to plastic'. But now a new rule is soon coming in Delhi where even paid palstic bags won't be allowed. A blanket ban.

Perhaps we need to research more and bring out the right solution. The ban has come and gone and it has made no difference what so ever and thus there has to be another solution to this.

Carrying a bag is is one answer but what will you do if you see somethigna nd wish to buy it immediately but cannot because you do not have a carry bag? Along with this what about the people who are working in plastic factories?

Do you think this rule is enough ? Do you think this is the right solution?

I have already posted this article here too step in Marketing and Branding community, you can visit it.Same thing i am posting here that P & G launched Tide Smart bag in U.A.E and running successful. You can also watch advertisement. Thanks Pragyaji for referal.

" TIDE SMART BAG " launched in U.A.E by P & G. To care for environment P & G has launched Tide smart bag instead of plastic bag during the all kinds of shopping.

Brief About Eco-friendly Market:- To cover market, establish strong brand and make it loyal in society, P & G launched such type of Eco-friendly bag. We all know about today's environment, various type of pollution etc. So, company also using various type of activities for society to build brand equity.

Still Eco-friendly market not develop as product wise as required. But, wide opportunity to develop and establish image. Very less type of products/brand available in market which is Eco-friendly. There are more than Million of plastic bags daily consumed in world.

Eco-friendly brand:- two wheeler bike like Yo-bike, Mahindra Duro e-bike, Hero Electric bike , Oreva bike on electric basis, Idea celluar has launched campaign on Eco-friendly (Save tree ), HP printer also launched ( I am not sure about HP)., etc. other brand also you can add if you know.  But, Ultimately overall industry wise ,Eco-friendly brand /product market is not well developed.

In India, lot of discussion already made on ban of plastic bag and somewhere also applied. We know very well about plastic bags , its harmful.

About Tide Smart Bag:- This brand launched in U.A.E and consumers as well as customers are positive towards this brand. Company getting satisfactory and positive response about such bag manufacturing.

Ad link:-  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViE7hVq3_EE (Tide Smart Bag)

Punchline:- Touching lives, Improving life...

The packing of Tide smart bag is totally unique as well as attractive. You will get more idea in advertisement.

Advertisement campaign is created by Leo Burnett agency and nice campaign. Now, brand are using multiple strategy simultaneously, like pricing, CSR, rural, promotional, 360 degree campaign, digital as per requirement and Target Group market. It can also say that customize strategy .

Is it possible to get success such product in India, Will it be come in India near future ? Will other company create such competitive product (Eco-friendly bag). ?

Complete ban is not in interests of countries like India where the possibilities of recycling mean as well employment for a section. The regulation on how to, how much and where should get better. Jute and paper recycled bags, waste fiber and paper bags etc should as well be encouraged. India in fact should be exporter of such materials to many international markets.

Ban on plastic bag is a complete mockery of the law. Shops are now making money by charging the customers. Customers have not understood the significance it and thus totally defeat the Ban by paying for bags.

Why are shops not giving Paper bags?

Government Policy to ban the plastic bags is a funniest thing. Government is one side, loosing its revenues by the imposition of ban, on the other hand the Super markets are getting extra ordinary rates on the same. I.e., simple 50 paise cost of the bag are sold at 3-5 rupees. Where as all the small and cottage industries are in the shadow. Why cant they lift Ban and search for waste management of the used bags? In the Hi-tech City of Bangalore, the roads are laying with the mixture of the Polythene waste alongwith Tar to give a hi-strength concretion of the road. By this, govt can earn some more revenue if they put its pressure in  all over the country.

In Hyderabad, we are now using recyclable plastic bags.  Ofcourse, vendors charge minimum of Rs. 2/- for it.  Hyd. City administration insisted the vendors to charge money from the buyers to discourage the people from using the plastic bags.   But, the intentions gone wrong.  As you said madam Kothari, people are not at all bothering to pay Rs. 2/-.  Unless the people  understand the basic problem these bans has no relevance to them.  Govt. has to educate the people to that extent.  Unfortunately, the educated are the big users of these plastic bags with some pretext or the other.  Rural folk has the habit of carrying a bag with them, they hardly purchase and use plastic bags.
