A couple of months back, when Sarah Palin, the poster-girl of rightwing Republicans was contracted by Fox News to be a guest anchor, she remarked, “I am thrilled to be joining the great journalistic talent at Fox News. It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”
Ah! ‘Fair’ and ‘balanced’, those wonderful words that Fox News has made its tagline, words that every aspiring journalist is reminded are critical to professional credibility.
A tagline is used in “Too-steps” too which goes as “Discover and Share your professional expertise”.
I am still not sure what those words mean. After all, if the channel that has often been accused of being “the propaganda arm of the Republican party” can proudly claim to be ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’, then I guess we need to redefine the meaning of the words. When Robert Ailes, the Fox News chairman was asked on the criticism of the political slant of the channel, his response was: “We’re not programming to conservatives, we’re just not eliminating their point of view!”
Similarly on a blog site like “Too-step” the word “Professional Expertise!” should be redefined, coz the way the blogs in social media are finding its way.
I guess every “Blogger” will have his/her own set of views, so what are the ideas you want to propose?
Thanks all for your piquant observations. Coming soon on the next post, not the half-baked story, but the whole pie. One more point of reassurance that on a social media one needs to scribble substance of thought not just random thoughts, otherwise one stands corrected.
Perhaps you want to convey,,,it should be 'personal expertise' as professional expertize dosn't suits with the word 'extreme', I suppose.

Just to participate in yr initiated Q & A. As what Fox did was to their advantage, TooStep does the same. What 'Fair' and 'Balanced' was for Fox, 'Professional Expertise' is to TooStep. TooStep is an open source where you share personal feelings without taking the trouble of phrasing / structuring words and sentences. Using words to their (company & individuals alike) advantage has been the trend for a long time.
And just a counter thought. You’ve called TooStep a blog site. To me, TooStep is an open FORUM (for general public) and BLOG would be my personal – thus pointing the responsibility too. Thus, I think we really don’t need to look at the finer points as what you raised and just post what we feel like - terming that as our individual expertise to please TooStep if they so desire.
"Fair", "Balanced", "Expert" and "Professional"... Shiuli, are you making me laugh?? :) Seriously!! mistakes in this blog or the archives of toostep??? :D
Jayant, I’ll come to the point of elaboration a bit later, first I want to see if people can point out the mistakes in this blog.
Can you elaborate further more on this Shiuli.....
