People say working in BPO as a fresher & gaining experience from there is not worth, like organisations don't consider BPO experience... is it really true???
Or anyone doing his or her internship in BPO, will organisations accept the learning of BPO??
Net - net working in BPO or Internship in BPO...will it get cosidered by any other sectors & what weightage does BPO carry...
Thank you.
Working in BPO expose you to western or American work culture, which don’t fit into Indian scenario. It’s all major world class corps out source to Indian BPO all noncore job, highly process oriented, time bound, excellent work flow nice pay, night shift 24 X7.
If you are planning higher studies don’t say that, join BPO work and migrate to Canada /USA or Australia. Your experience / prudence will count.
I have worked for top corp in best BPO's, its bare fact.
Business Process Outsourcing is an important aspect of what we can a 'Global Business Model'. Just as simply doing repeated tasks may not be a value-add to your career currently, the numbers around the working of the business will help you around operations or strategy management of such outsourcing. Calls per day, AHT (Average Handling Time), Customer satisfaction, productivity per call/person, Seat utilization and ROI on BPO real estate are metrics that will help you understand the working of the business. The concerns around BPO's like Cost of hire, Real estate cost, infant mortality (Employee churn within 30-90 days), COPQ (Cost of poor quality) are concerns shared by other industries as well. Many people use BPO's simply for an interim period before they find a 'real' job. I do feel that good BPO's like Wipro, Tata, IBM, Accenture etc will be able to guide you on key process skills that you will be able to take with you anywhere. No company will be able to give you a job that's a perfect learning platform for you. It will be your personal desire to learn and grow that will help you derive educational value from any environment.
Whenever anyone is talking about BPO experience, be fairly warned - apart from the top few BPOs, there is no point in considering to start your career there. However, the kind of training you receive in good BPOs are really useful in making yourself employable.
It is not necessary that BPO training makes you fit for jobs abroad. I think this argument comes from the accent training you get there. Well honed selling skills & interpersonal skills can get you good jobs in the Marketing & advertising fields, Hospitality industry, Corporate communications etc.
Again, I wish to reiterate that training from good International BPOs can get you placements but not the domestic or two-bit credit card selling or telecom plan selling operations that are sprouting everywhere. I can say this with a fair amount of authority as I have worked in the top ranking BPOs in NCR & had a short stint at trying to run a BPO myself.
Cheers!!! All the best guys!!!!!
