CPM ads ("cost per thousand views"; banner ads online and regular ads in print, TV and radio)
CPC ads ("cost per click"; think Google ads)
CPT ads ("cost per transaction"; you pay only if the customer brought to you from a media sites becomes a paying customer.)
Lead generation (you pay for qualified names of potential customers)
Subscription revenues
Affiliate revenues (think: Amazon Associates)
Rental of subscriber lists
Sale of information (selling data about users--aggregate/statistical or individual--to third parties)
Licensing of brand (people pay to use a media brand as implied endorsement)
Licensing of content (syndication)
Getting the users to create something of value for free and applying any of the above to monetize it. (Like Digg or our own Reddit)
Cost Per Install (popular with top Facebook apps who can help others get installs)
E-commerce (selling stuff directly on your website)
Sponsorships (ads of some sort that are sold based on time, not on the number of impressions)
Listings (paying a time based amount to list something like a job or real estate on your website)
Paid Inclusion (a form of CPC advertising where an advertiser pays to be included in a search result)
Streaming Audio Advertising (like radio advertising delivered in the audio stream after a certain amount of audio content has been delivered)
Streaming Video Advertising (like streaming audio but in video)
API Fees (charging third parties to access your API)

First i have to admit that I am not good in this area. However, the contribution made by Mr.Shaikh seems good. Whatever it may be, but it should aim at meet the customers requirements with quality and services that should be long lasting. Besides, business models on various types of hi-tech cars, job sites, mobile models, software projects, information on IT industries etc are useful for getting information and buying and selling.

Well, to being with the business can be of any kind but certain important things or i must say compulsory things to be kept in mind are

1. content creation ( relevant /useful /timely / magnitude )

The content regarding the business domain must be constantly created .IT can even be a blog , article etc .... and such domian specific knowledge must be marketed well by active use of social networking ( twitter , facebook etc ...)

2.Engagement with customers and users .

Customers are the ones who have purchased your idea , users can be those who knwoabout you , the business must be well connected  with both .Usually it happens that companies do not take feedback from their users and give importance to only customers , in todays world such logic no longer works .

3. pay per click ad model ,

this comes after the above two have been implemented properly and the business is engaged well with its users .Only then can one take on the advertising aggressively.
