Now a days, most of the newspaper/magazine publishers have their own ad agencies. The Marketing Person can deal with the client regualrly instead of depending solely on Ad Agencies. The Marketing Person's duty is to contact the corporates and get good advertisements like half page, full page, colored ads. He maintains good rapport with corporates as well as ad agencies. It is also necessary for him to maintain excellent relationship with Information & Public Relation Department of the State Government. Government Ads are the main source of revenue for any newspaper/magazine.
I would like to share overview and responsibilities of marketing person in publishing company.
basically , there various kind of post in publishing company for marketing Department like marketing executive, client service executive, advertising coordinator, Ad-sales person, Corporate sales person. Here, i have not mentioned any junior and senior post, just this type of post.
There are two sub department mainly work in marketing. (1) Subscription (2) Advertising And this both are major income source for any publication house. (Especially Advertising Dept. is first important part)
Overview of role and responsibilities:-
Publishing house must be tie up with many advertising agency otherwise, it can not run successfully. Publishing house and ad agency are co-related with each other. If unknown and new ad agency then executive must have to give presentation about publishing house.
(1) Client service executive or Ad sales person should have conduct regular visit with all major big advertising agency as per tour program and territory. Each executive has their own territory.
(2) Executives have also target for generate business from ad , Senior are taking reporting, problem-solution and also senior will joint working with junior.
(3) The most important point that sometime ad agency can not able to pitch their client. so, here executive are coordinate with ad agency and both are approaching with client.
(4) Mutual understanding and regular follow up must be required.
(5) The other important point is Any publishing house are design some ad scheme on regular interval, festival so, this scheme must have require to promote to ad agency and Ad agency will promote their client. Normally, executives must have to follow up with ad agency.
(6) To provide regular and fresh new magazine issue to the ad agency.
(7) The other point most important that Executive has never approach to the direct client. if he will approach directly , it may chance to loss business. because, normally all kind of media are taking business through ad agency.
But, now all are happening. So, publishing house must have rules and policy which will require to discuss ad agency and ad agency feel confidence so, more chance of business.
Any marketing person of publishing house must have require to follow the above mentioned basic roles and responsibilities...

I am confused as to what i should opt for between 1 year course of" Advertising & Marketing Management " and 1 Year course of " PR & Corporate Communication" . |
