Can Ethanol be use as a fuel for automobiles in future?

It will surely be used one or the other day.Lot of research is on process for Ethanol-85 as avalibility of Ethanol is easy...but the concern is emissions. If they are upto the standadrs then we will soon find Ethanol as a common fuel.

Ethanol could be a alternative fuel but, it alone cannot solve the emission problem.  We need to think further to use Hydrogen gas based fuel which is going to be the future solution for emission and energy problems.

That will happen sooner than you might think. For the time we should think of Bio fuel as a option. I think ethanol as a fuel to achieve crude oil independence is almost entirely a red herring at this stage.
