In prestressed beam bridges ,for prstresing wire is used which is imported and very costly,can we produce in India a better quality of steel bars/wire of 7mm in dia.This will save our foreign currency and will be saving of budget .

TATA STEEL at Borivali-Bombay is manufacturing Presyressing strands. TENSILE STEEL Baroda was previously manufacturing prestressing wires. Usha Martin around Kalkatta also. Basic requirement of prestressing steel is the Ultimate tensile strength should be around 190 kg/sqmm.
