MRTG and JFFNMS can be good options if you want graphing of data flow and packet drops...

If you are cost constraint, try nagios or zenoss. But if you can afford, then you have ManageEngine OpManager, PRTG Network Monitor, What's Up Gold. Want to go for best of the breed and expensive solution then try HP's Sitescope.

Lots of them - try NetCrunch, Whatsup or the like.  You cannot miss the greatest open source software Nagios - highly configurable and versatile.
