After IT can we become the global outsourcing hub for advertising??? Do we have enough in us. The two economies which are performing relatively better than any other country in the world are India and China. Two giants of Asia.
The two countries which has huge human talents. Cheap labor, great knowledge skills. The only thing which gives us the edge that we communicate mostly in English. So far it has seen that advertising trend is changing, now any thing and every thing that is there between the brand and its user is medium of communication. There are many clients which are now handled world wide by Indian agencies. Few agencies are trying to start their 24 hour studios, they are even planning for working I sifts.
So my question is that do we have enough in us to become Global outsourcing hub for Adverting???
I love creativity of Indian advertisements. They are not only fun to watch, they also create a lasting impression on viewers mind.I have seen numerous television ads in US and UK, but very few ads seem to capture viewer’s attention.
In India you will find numerous unforgettable TV ads beaming everyday, especially during primetime soaps and Cricket matches.
Creativity of Indian Advertising agencies is now attested globally with Indian becoming the hub for outsourcing TV commercials and has more than one thirds of market share.
Creativity coupled with low cost of production makes India one of the most attractive markets for outsourcing of TV commercials.
The cost of outsourcing a commercial to India is 20-25% less than what it costs at its closest competitor Malaysia. The savings on cost for line production in low-cost countries are 12-38%, with India providing 31% savings. Outsourcing end-to-end production can help save 44-77%, with savings in India pegged at 68%.
Availability of directors and crew members at low fees, and relatively cheap rental of equipment in India make the country the least expensive amongst all low-cost destinations. Most line production (70%) and end-to-end production (20%) are outsourced to India.
Indian advertising surely has what it takes to become the outsourcing hub of the world. Many companies like Ogilvy & Mather, Lowe Worldwide, Leo Burnett, Rediffusion DYR and Lintas are now opening studios that work as 24-hour centres and provide support to creative functions across their global networks.
Yes Jayant you are very true that we lack students from the advertising background. There are very few Institutes in India which are offering specialized courses in advertising; we can count them on figure. Most famous one is MICA. There are other few like EMPI- Delhi (Claims to be second College for advertising after MICA, though less known), slowly and slowly the Graduation and post graduation courses are coming for Advertising. But most of the pass outs of MICA or any other institute chooses to go to brand side, due to high initial remunerations. May be not now may some years latter who knows we can become global outsourcing hub......
I don't think so, don't get me wrong here, IT outsourcing became a big hit in the country because we had courses designed for it in most of the education institutions all over the country and this produced a great number of talent with English to back it up..and this helped the cause and there were many comapnies in IT which got projects world over....so to replicate that kind of thing in Advertising we need more students who will enroll into courses with media and other related to Advertising..which is not happening i guess...so till one gets that good number for Advertising it is dificult for us to become a Global outsourcing in Advertising...there is a great talent in country which is attracting projects, but we need more professionals in this field and that to happen we need more students who's interest lies this field, but most of them go for engineering, doctor,MBA and others....
