What is GTL (Gas To Liquid) plant which is starting in qatar by qatar petroleum and shell.
Well the Gas To Liquid Plant is utilizing a process in which gas in presence of catalyst convrted into liquid fuels. now the question in your mind is why the hell gas has converted in to liquid?
there are many points which support liquid fuel and thats wat today even natural gas got such a recognition as a clean fuel it still lacks behind to liquid fuel. fue points are mention below:
1) Handling of liquid fuel is easy. 2) Liquid fuel is creates less hazard wen spill.3) energy contant of liquid fuel is more in terms of volume. 5) transportation wld be easy for liquid fuel.
on this remark Gas is converted into liquid.
the process majorly is Fisher trospsh synthesis in which a single no. carbon compond (methane) is inetercted with other methane compond reaction propageted in a ridical form and terminates as per the final product requiremnts. so you will get the liquid fuels and intermediates for fertilizer and petrochemical industry.

Adding to what others have said GTL is a type of liquid fuel produced from natural gas. It isn't classic liquefied natural gas, which is natural gas cooled to the point where it turns into a fluid. Instead, methane from underground is cracked by catalysts and heat, turned into synthetic gases, and then transformed into a liquid similar to diesel.While GTL results in fewer greenhouse gases than conventional diesel, it ain't cheap. Shell, in fact, is getting its natural gas to make GTL in an area where it's impractical to build pipelines for selling regular natural gas.

GTL conversion is an umbrella term for a group of technologies that can create liquid synthetic fuels from a variety of feedstocks. Sorry i missed one thing that is GTL is totally differnt from LNG (Liquified natural gas) as GTL produces liquid fuels permanently LNG is juz a state of N. Gas and as soon as broght into natural atmsophere it gets vapourise and again gain its actual form at ambient condition.
